The GOP was threatening to hold Garland in contempt when Swalwell chimed in:

“My colleague just said you should be held in contempt of Congress. And that is quite rich because the guy who is leading the hearing room right now, Mr Jordan, is about 500 days into evading his subpoena—are you serious?”

@flexghost @clintruin I agree, but it’s also *crucial* to understand how stacked the decks are against accountability.

To be outspoken and publicly call out the bullshit is absolutely a step in the right direction. No, it won’t get us to resolution, but it normalizes drawing a line in the sand.

Swalwell can’t take half of the house to court. But he absolutely looks like he’s down to be part of the larger movement.

Watch the next year and a half. I bet you’ll be surprised

@clintruin @flexghost the sad thing is that accountability is about the same as it’s always been, in terms of political/economy. Humans have always been shit at working out issues until there’s a hunger for cake and steel.

What I truly hope is that the pendulum has begun to swing the other way and we are trending towards more accountability where it has the biggest impact.

I’ve been a fan of Swallwell since the furst impeachment. His preparation and patience (waiting for any slip ups) when questioning witnesses was amazing to watch.

That being said, these congressional hearings are a joke and should always end with the curb your enthusiasm closing credits and theme

true! what infuriates me is that they do this and then, because all is projection with the republiKKKAns and apparently, they are immune from accountability, they politicise everything all while saying the dems are the ones doing it. tfg says loud and clear "it's my last chance, go after them, block the government, impeach Biden" and these buffoons do!
