How do #CorkCity's #RobotTrees use electricity and water? The energy consumption of a typical home in #Ireland, and the water consumption of 8 homes.

#CityTree / Robot Tree / #MossWall is an environmentally destructive scandal, inflicted by an incompetent #CorkCityCouncil.

Just plant #trees.

Cork's ‘robot trees’ labelled a waste of energy by campaigner as council analyses impact

echolive.ie

“For the amount that we’re spending [on #RobotTrees] to a German company we’re not getting the right level of service it would appear, but it’s clouded in secrecy.”

#CityTree claims of performing like an entire wood, absorbing #emmissions and cleaning the air are misleading. So many cities and towns have been scammed by this #Greenwash. Time CityTree faced full report exposure.

'Most expensive benches ever': Call for an enquiry into Cork City Council's purchase of robot trees

echolive.ie
Meanwhile in the real world, 90% of #CorkCity residents want more #parks, #biodiversity, #GreenSpaces and more (natural) #trees. 86% want more #pedestrianised streets. Almost 26% of people who live in the city #cycle but fears around safety, lack of segregated #bike lanes and steep, hilly terrain are the reasons why people do not cycle more often.

@StuartDNeilson

So ultimately they're creating more carbon dioxide than they consume?

😩

@nichorra Yes, as much electricity as a home, just for TV panels displaying a static image that is the same as the (zero-energy) framed poster. And so much water - what is the million+ litres of water for?

Nice benches though. Almost as nice as the high back benches on Penrose Quay, and the closest we have to social seating since they ripped out the two pairs of face-to-face benches by the Simon Community hostel on Anderson's Quay. Almost like the Council doesn't want people to congregate.

@StuartDNeilson

If you wish to congregate, you must consume.

@nichorra I'd vote for Róisín: "The city has been designed in a way where any non-transactional activity is antisocial. Any non-transactional occupation of city space arises out of vagrancy, of poverty, of those not well dressed enough to enter and purchase items from private premises. Droves of cash-strapped youths are shooed away from shop fronts, their very existence ... when they’re not generating capital is deemed antisocial. Socially acceptable behaviour begins at the cash register."

@StuartDNeilson

You have made my day with this ❤️
