After several failed attempts using a complicated technique, I successfully sewed a simple pattern to make a SMD resistor phone case. I forget to fully include the seam allowance in the size computation, so it just barely fits my phone. It makes a nice set along with my PTH resistor glasses case!

@geekmomprojects really love this, got to show this my kids who like to make stuff like this.

I need a big soft electrolytic capacitor ๐Ÿ˜‰

@peturdainn I want to complete the set with water bottle holder that looks like a PTH capacitor!
@geekmomprojects Wow, that looks amazing! ๐Ÿ’ฏx๐Ÿ’ฏ!
@axwax @geekmomprojects I've been meaning to spend some time learning lathing to make a resistor lamp.

@geekmomprojects
I love this!

This reminds me when I was a kid, there was a giant spool of these colorful wires left over from neighborhood telephone installations and I used to make so much jewelry out of them.

@geekmomprojects

Wow, this is so cool!

Did you check the resistance of your new phone case? I would do that just to be silly.

47

The number 47 makes frequent recurrences in dialogues and on computer screens in Star Trek. The origin of the significance of 47 can be traced to Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager writer Joe Menosky, who attended Pomona College in California. There is a club at Pomona called The 47 Society, which claims that there exists a mathematical proof that all numbers are equal to 47, and that the number 47 occurs with greater frequency in nature than other numbers โ€“ 74 makes...

@geekmomprojects i admire your creativity and taste. Im a fan.
@geekmomprojects at first glance I thought the upper thing is kind of socks... Why not ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
@geekmomprojects Is there a significance to the band/rating on the resistor glass case? Any reason it's 47?
@SuperSelena64 sort-of. The color selection represents the intersection of common resistor values and the colors of iron-on vinyl I happen to have on hand.
@geekmomprojects love your glasses case and wish I had thought of that!
@geekmomprojects It's nerdy and cute. It's absolutely perfect. I love this idea so much and I need to do something like this for a laptop case.

@geekmomprojects now to some NE555 backback ๐Ÿคฃ

Love them.

@geekmomprojects those are so cool! How did you put the "103" on? A stencil and some kind of paint?
@geedotk that particular black fabric is laser engravable/cuttable faux leather, and when etched with a laser it turns silver. It's called "Laserable Leatherette" and you can buy it online from a number of vendors.
