I have a history of playing MMOs and becoming well acquainted with strangers, but at the end of the day I phone a friend if I want to have dinner with somebody.I enjoy the separation of my online and offline presence, even with decade long friendships.
@ClickyMcTicker I definitely think we could do some activities remotely, like baking and sharing photos/videos of us trying out different recipes. Food is actually a great way to have a "shared" experience because we can all touch and taste the same food. @Doreen32128 It would not be too difficult to set up a video call with a reasonably large screen to be like the Portals between remote picnics. That would be pretty cool to connect a few locations this way.

The corporates, velebs, politicians are a neccassay presence for a successful social media site....
That being said the beauty of the #fediverse is that they they should have their own instances and stick to them.
This makes it easy for people to filter what they see

I only saw one celeb account from Twitter migrate here, GeorgeTakei, and he got bored I guess, and left for another corporate site.
@PlineyTheNewer I also question to the value of this category of social media. A feed with a mix of posts with unrelated topics presented chronologically to anyone globally is useful, how?

Gus@mtsw I had 56 accounts. I deleted 51 and locked 5 that I have to still save stuff from. But I locked them with a description "I moved on to Mastodon world". I'm sad that Twitter is gone, and happy to leave X, which I didn't sign for. And even if Twitter ever comes back, I won't. One cannot live like that. I'm happy here. (Already have 4 accounts.)

GD bots can bounce an account in a heartbeat, hold a gun to your head to make you retract your tweet, but if you refuse to recant, kick you to the curb. And then it takes humans weeks to reinstate a user. Elon Musk is trash. Twitter/X is trash. Musk has run X into the toilet. I hope he goes bankrupt and the battery in his electric car overheats.

I see this kind of post every single time I’ve popped in here for almost a year straight now. Maybe some folks still get a better personal experience over there than here, and maybe folks here should just allow people to enjoy themselves wherever they are instead of berate them about it.

Ailuridae@mtsw who the heck uses an app? I used twidere or whatever for a while way back, but then was all just mobile site. it worked fine. (and then I closed my account when it got too musky)
