@QasimRashid I am not able to understand why the Taliban leadership are so willing to give up on 1/2 their intellectual capital by so many restrictions on women. What part of their beliefs as Muslims has led them to this position? Is it simply power? I fear we are starting to see this in the more rabid Christian nationalists, as well.

It's questionable if many of the people living under the Taliban want to live the way the Taliban want them to live.

Unfortunately, short of external military intervention, it's unlikely that the Taliban will cease being the rulers of Afghanistan anytime in the near future.

Is that how you want your mother treated?
You should consider moving there, you'd be far more comfortable there than in countries where women are granted the same rights as men. Though even in the west that's more a goal than an achievement.

@QasimRashid Prejudice is a wide-sweeping net. Politics is replete with it. Don't blame all on all members of a party or organization. I've seen it on full display both on the Right and the Left. Also, let go of the notion that the only solution to societal ills comes from the legislatures.
