We live in an age where people don't even know what oligarchy means...it's a term made popular again by politicians--the very politicians that are part of the oligarchy. It doesn't mean just the rich, it means a small power base that rules without check for a very long time. Look at Congresspeople who linger in the chambers for 50+ years. Look at the SCOTUS, who can serve from mid-life until death. They are the oligarchy.
Democracy gets shaken by events like today, not by rhetoric and sophistry about what could (and probably won't) be.
Other than Rogue One, this was probably the best moment of Disney Star Wars. It tied in to the lore in a very real way--Anakin and Ahsoka, master and apprentice. The late High Republic stuff that's in The Acolyte is trite--in writing, character, plot development. Headland wanted to tell HER story, set in the universe and seems to have little regard as to how well it fits. No, it's not held in disdain by many because of wokeness...it's because of a lack of respect to the lore that came before it.
https://dwarf.ly/9vhHOq This was one of my first big projects in Computer Science in college, something we built across a semester my freshman year in bits and pieces…and ChatGPT threw it up in seconds. This must make coming up with projects that can’t be generated pretty difficult.

My pondering of the day: Slavery did not cause the Civil War. Slavery caused secession. Had the Confederacy not attacked Fort Sumter, it's quite possible we would have had two countries to this day. It was the Confederacy, tripping over their own feet, who caused the war via the attack.

Slavery probably would have ended naturally, due to advancing technology. However, the Civil Rights movement likely wouldn't have been a thing in a more mature Confederacy. And that would have been awful.

Looks like some dickish reductionism has made its way from Twitter/X 😂
Maybe “get woke, go broke” really is a thing? Disney didn’t make a $1B movie in 2023–might help to explain why they’ve released Mandalorian, Loki and a few others on Blu-ray…they’re shaking the trees for profit…https://dwarf.ly/rSTyFTI
