Just today, I posted up the sequel, THE MUNICIPAL MYSTERY.

There are no characters carried over, but it’s the setting’s answer to “with no cops, who solves crimes?” In this case, it’s (1) a trained CSI, (2) an elderly volunteer and (3) this guy from the neighborhood. Can they solve they mystery of the stolen cash register? Read and find out!

It’s SF, I guess, though it doesn’t demand any innovation other than “radical police reform.” It follows a defunded police officer who gets rehired in a radically reorganized community service organization.

Technically science fiction, but there's nothing in here that we couldn't have by 2022, given sufficient political will. It's a story about how public safety could be different in America, told mid-change.

OK, I started writing HOUSE OF BODIES thinking it would be a horror story but it seems to just… want to be about a bunch of people at a gym?

Yesterday’s effort included these lines:

"Denny waited a while to make his move on Polly, which anybody could have told him was an idea with no upside”

and

"It is impossible to fidget nonchalantly, but Denny tried.”

I am pleased with them.

Just listened to THE SPOT OFF THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY on THE TRUTH podcast:

Real nicely done spooky story with a powerful subtext of “teens are not great, actually.” I’ve often said that bad decisions make for great stories (in fiction) and this really really bears that out.

Also, props to the author for doing the voice of “Mom.”
