Main reason why I created #elsica.social was that I followed and now miss the many small highly specialized groups on FB, such as Really Rare #Plants, #Cacti in their natural habitats, #Botanical, #Macro and #Wildlife #Photography, Mini #Orchids, #Mineralogy, #Travel and #Geography etc. I'd like to provide the platform to establish those in the #Fediverse. So please feel free to join and if you want help to create such a group please reach out to me!
@choyer I get a 404 not found error.
@curiocritters For elsica.social? It works, not sure what could have caused this, prob a connectivity problem?

@choyer Works now!

Was probably the hashtag in your earlier post.

You are making me want to change instances.

@curiocritters Happy to! ;-)
@choyer Would changing instances make me lose my current network?
@curiocritters You indeed can not move your followers and may lose some but can import your follows. Generally, I would recommend to create an additional account here for testing purposes, you still can import your follows at a later stage. Friendica serves a slightly different purpose than Mastodon, so I have both, although they perfectly well speak to each other. Friendica has some more features such as speaking to Diaspora or better tooling for showing discussion threads etc. which makes it a little more useful for communities in my opinion.

@choyer

You have me convinced! I think I will join. 🙂

@curiocritters A warm welcome then!
@choyer Still not working.

@choyer I think I can just visit your instance from time to time, and you can keep checking out my awesome posts on urban biodiversity, particularly feral flora, integrating with, and benefitting native wildlife in urban ecosystems!

Oh, and lotsa butterflies. Sometimes spiders.

Natural History, in general.

@curiocritters This is a weird error happening sometimes when saving the profile avatar at registration, I will investigate, but can see you are registered on the site.
@choyer good ideas -- the nature people are starting to link up here without it feeling the same as elsewhere/replacing existing ways of recording, sharing, discussing.
