Compuguy 🐱@hacks4pancakes Same applies if people leave computers or other electronics on the curb. I had to wipe the hard drive of an old Dell desktop because it contained sensitive tax documents on it. People don't seem to understand that bad people will take advantage in these situaitons....😩

@hacks4pancakes I have a stack of old laptops laying around explicitly because I haven't yet wiped them. Thing is, they've been sitting around for so many years now and wiping them is like priority none, so I'm tempted to donate them anyway. Maybe I'll just yank the drives and shred them instead...

Justin Derrick@hacks4pancakes I do this for all my friends -- I upgrade them, take their old machines, wipe the drives (or remove them entirely as part of an upgrade) and pass them along. I've got two tablets, two PCs, and four old routers (that are getting reflashed with OpenWRT) that will be handed off to kids for back-to-school this year.
