As a very woke radical leftist I'm beyond tired of hearing people like ... Joe Biden and federal prosecutors(???) called "radical leftists."

They did not. They are not. They did not earn that title! That is mine! We are NOT the same OK?

Anyway, on the bright side, when real radical leftists start showing up what are the republicans gonna call us? "Super duper extra spicy double plus hot crossed buns radical left?" You spent your biggest move! You've got nowhere more shocking to go!

@futurebird this is why I don’t understand why democrats are scared to move too far to the left. conservatives have already been calling them communists for years and they’ll keep saying something like it no matter what
@bookybookman @futurebird because a good portion of them are just as economically conservative & tied to corporations as the right. The Democratic Party only ran out the last anti abortion rep in Biden’s election cycle iirc (and that had to overcome the financial support from the “centrist” house leadership & fundraising apparatus)
@metaphase @futurebird yeah I agree there, so my frustration is broader than elected officials. Around election time I always hear people say they would vote for x but they think y will do better against z, etc

@bookybookman @futurebird I think to replace the conservative elements in the Democratic Party, people who want the party to go more left (including me) need to focus on getting more local and regional representatives elected.

I mean weigh in on the more national offices, but we’ll keep losing those internal decisions often until we put on more and more people from the ranks below that want to go further left.

@metaphase @bookybookman @futurebird Yeah I don't think most Democrat leadership is "scared" to go left, they might use 'optics' as an excuse to not push stuff their voters care about more than they do, though
@bookybookman @futurebird Far left is not where the majority of Democrats are at present… nor are the moderates/persuadeable others that they need to win over. AOC can run as far left as she likes in her district. That district is never flipping red. The challenge is how to keep a broad coalition together that spans AOC’s district, Abigail Spanberger’s district, and everything in between
@dschwarz @futurebird that is the trick. meanwhile the republicans are somehow able to move their entire party further and further to the right without such concerns, shifting the goalpost of what many consider moderate to mean. frustrates me.
