I’m trying to find an online source for #VintageBike parts. I have a few 1960s/70s #Raleigh Sports 3 speeds that need attention. Brake pads, brake levers, and calipers are eluding me. Any #BikeTooter folks have suggestions? I’m avoiding eBay since everything there is way overpriced.
@bikescape Harris Cyclery in Newton was my instinctive #OldBikes recommendation, but unfortunately they didn't survive 2020. I assume you're familiar with this site: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/oldbikes.html though Sheldon is no longer with us.

@knizer Yeah, Harris was my go-to in the past and I haven’t found a replacement yet. The Sheldon Brown site is a gold mine - I hope it doesn’t go away any time soon!
@bikescape I think you would struggle in the UK, the US…..
@bikescape punch in the make and model into your browser, it should lead you to a supplier. I did this with my schwinn ecotour and found a company in California that supplied everything. Schwinn didn't supply anything.

@bikescape For restoration or just for use?

I remember when you could pick up these old Raleigh bikes for $20 at a yard sale... ahh, the good 'ol days.

@denniskoch Just doing repairs to make them rideable again. I cherry pick the reusable Raleigh bikes & parts from the big bike pile at the dump. I try to stick with period parts since they tend to last much longer than modern replacements. (It’s amazing how easily they can be brought back with Evapo-Rust, some tin foil, and Boeshield T-9.)
@bikescape I wish I had some resources - looking around, it seems if you wanted stuff from the 80's/90's, those are a lot easier to find at this point. Granted, the 80's/90's parts should fit on a 60's/70's bike easy - with the exceptions of some mountain bike stuff, all the road bike stuff was pretty much interchangeable (as far as I remember). If I come across anything though, I'll share it!

@bikescape I think I gor compatible brake pads of ebay. The style of brake calipers is the same as in modern rim brake road biles, so I'd guess lots of spare parts. Brake levers shouldn't be an issue as well as calipers are alike.
