Dianne Feinstein went to the hospital after a 'minor fall' at home, spokesperson says
This is the best summary I could come up with:
WASHINGTON — Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., fell at home Tuesday and visited the hospital to get checked out, her office said.
All of her scans were clear and she returned home,” a Feinstein spokesperson told NBC News in an email Wednesday.
TMZ first reported Wednesday morning that the 90-year-old senator paid a visit to the hospital after she tripped and fell Tuesday at her San Francisco home.
Feinstein’s health has been closely watched — this year, she missed three months of work in the Senate after she was hospitalized with shingles.
She has rejected calls to resign and insists she will remain a senator until her term ends in January 2025, then retire.
Three House Democrats are locked in a competitive battle to succeed Feinstein in the solidly blue state in the November 2024 election.
I’m a bot and I’m open source!
Why not retire at retirement age? I am sure there would be a younger democrat that would have been elected to do the job.
Seems like people get power and they don't want to give it up.
Oh and fix our social security system AND put the age back to 65.
Therein lies the problem.
I vote D basically straight ticket, because that's the only option I have in my state. But traditional Dems still only want us drifting so far left; corporate interests still stranglehold politics on both sides. Dems just have the decency to support general human rights while transferring wealth.
Im sure the homeless trans girl living in poverty takes comfort knowing that dems care about which bathroom she uses.
/sIf that were to happen her seat on the judiciary committee is lost and the republicans won’t allow her to be replaced. Which means Biden gets to appoint no judges until after the next election.

The already did it temporarily last April. This time it would be permanent.
That’s not the issue. A fall can hurt and I’d want a politician to make sure they’re not concussed.
The issue is stuff like a few months ago where she was out of office for weeks/months and when she came back she tried to argue with reporters that it didn’t happen, because she couldn’t remember that for an extended period of time she was physically/mentally unable to work.
Even when she was “better” she has no clue what’s happening around here.
I’d assume that would get reported differently
it has been, many, many times
Feinstein being decrepit and senile and controlled by her handlers (mostly because, if she steps down, we can’t do ANYTHING involving the judiciary committee because republicans will block it) is one thing. But minor falls really are problems
Couple months back I “missed a step” and basically fell down one single stair. Landed wrong on my foot. Was swollen pretty bad and had to walk with a cane for a few weeks after. If I were smart I would have gone to the hospital.
It was completely a “minor fall” and nothing was life threatening. But if that had happened during the work day: I would have texted my boss that I was done for the day.
I voted for her in her most recent election for similar reasons. I didn’t want a first year senator when we were having to deal with Trump.
I don’t think I’d make the same decision today after seeing how far she’s declined. She’s senior, but she’s not the powerful voice of leadership that we need. And Feinstein’s clout, such as it is, has been imperceptible in therms of making the Senate not a shitshow. She has less ability to make things go right than freshman senator Sinema has wielded to make things into the shitshow.
She should be pushed out of office.
Not physically.
And she should be replaced with someone able to both take an active role now and who will be able to grow their position for decades.
Hopefully I’ll be able to retire and not have to deal with work.
But then again my job ain’t so cushy that I can literally not show up.
Yeah, her and her ilk are making it so we won’t get to be as old as her. Recent generations have shorter life expectancies than previous.
So, yeah, not lookin likely there chief.
Yeah, it’s really fucked up to keep seeing comments from non-Californians blaming us for voting for her, as though we have any kind of real choice.
Regardless, it’s yet another case of Americans blaming other Americans, as usual, instead of blaming a system that allows this shit to happen and doesn’t give us viable choices of candidates in the first place.
Yes, ageism is horrible and too common especially against women. But it’s really disingenuous to say there should be no age limit whatsoever, especially when it’s acceptable in every other industry. No one is “preying on her dementia” as some kind of distraction. They have a political advantage to having her stay in office, it’s really not that hard. The choices are bullshit, as usual, because it comes down to keeping her in office the rest of her life or open it up to some fascist conservative.
Of course reasonable Californians are mad. But do you have time to organize and get the signatures for a special recall election? Not many people do.
reasonable Californians
You act like it didn’t take at least half the state to elect her
Feinstein isn't the only problem here. In fact the 118th Congress average age is the third oldest since 1789 .
I cannot understand why people continue voting for the same incumbent year after year. Not once have I voted for a politician, then thought to myself in the next election "they listen to me and deserve my vote again". I refuse to vote twice for any politician unless I actually believe they care about the average person and I'll be honest that has never happened.
I just don't get it. Are we voting based on a popularity contest of names we recognize on the ballot with a D or R next to their name? How f*cking pathetic. Look across the asile, both ways - maybe there's someone decent out there. Unlikely, but maybe they're better than the current guy who's been there for thirty years.
