Tools to archive GameFAQs HTML guides? - Lemmy.World
So with the ever increasing news that GameFAQs is getting full fandom’d, I
figured I would grab some of the more useful guides for when I want to play a
“retro” game or just 100% a LAD. From quick research, it looks like the txt
guides are more than covered but the HTML ones are still kind of in a void. So
before I write my own set of scripts, I figured I would check if I am just not
aware of something that already does this.
Pet Feeders with Good Integrations?

Pet Feeders with Good Integrations? - Lemmy.world
Anyone have any recommendations for a good automated pet feeder with good HA
integrations? Preferably with an RTSP camera. I suspect I will eventually need
to just build my own (since the whole point of the camera is to make you use the
app so that you eventually pay for premium), but wouldn’t mind spending 100-200
bucks to get something “now”. From a quick google, it looks like there is a
pretty good HACS for PetSafe. No camera, but so be it. But curious if I am
missing something.
Tips to prevent Steam from breaking itself with redistributables?

Tips to prevent Steam from breaking itself with redistributables? - Lemmy.world
So this has been annoying for a while but got REALLY bothersome while I was
debugging Armored Core 6 crashing on the first real boss fight (the answer is
Proton 7.06, by the way). It seems like it is a crapshoot as to whether steam
borks itself while installing directx or any other redistributables. Resulting
in some games working and others just hanging. And if it breaks, I need to clear
the download cache and try again. And every time there is a new proton version
it triggers a rebuild and now a different set of games work and don’t work. From
brief experimentation, it looks like not letting steam compile shaders in the
background helps with this. But… I would rather restart steam every other day
than wait 40 minutes to play Warframe. So are there any tips to prevent Steam
from being like a kitten tangled up in a ball of yarn? Ubuntu 22.04 with Steam
installed via apt install steam if it makes a significant difference. I know
people are really big on flatpaks right now but avoided that due to issues with
like the two native linux games that still exist in Steam (mostly joking).
Up to date Prime Spreadsheets? - Lemmy.world
So did a bit of googling. Looks like there have been a few spreadsheets over the
years that let you tick off what you have and what you need in terms of void
relics and prime blueprints, but most are years out of date. Before I make my
own the next time I am stuck in a waiting room for an hour or so, are there any
up to date spreadsheets that are out there? Basically looking to be able to mark
down what I have built and what I still need so that I can quickly sell my
excess crap to Baro and maybe know when it is worth grabbing the bronze over the
gold at the end of a mission. Thanks
Gundam has actually always been weirdly leftist?

Gundam has actually always been weirdly leftist? - Lemmy.world
So I’m a kid who grew up with Gundam Wing and only came to the UC as an adult.
Always loved those troubled boys in mech suits and grown to understand how
horrifying Gundams are as I have rewatched shows as an adult. Bog standard But
finally getting around to Iron Blooded Orphans and… it kind of made it all
click. Gundam has ALWAYS been leftist and… that is really weird. Amuro and
Kamille were kids who accomplished a lot while being chewed up by the military
industrial complex. They… don’t matter a lot. But Judeau. He was a kid who found
hope and was left out to dry in a sequence that will make me forever hate Bright
(even as I cheer for him in Unicorn for doing his fucking job for once in his
life). This street rat who was given an opportunity to fight for justice for the
people… and then left to do it on his own because The Federation didn’t want to
take a stand. In OG and Zeta, Bright is “cop dad”. In Double Zeta, he becomes an
irredeemable monster. But then I look at Heero and his wing. They were also more
or less left to fix everything for the world. And there is very much that 90s
vibe of “Fuck it. You can piss away the world if you want to… God damn it, i
guess I’ll help” with how the obligatory WMD was handled. The first strike?
Yeah, Earth deserves it. The second? Time to fix this mess for all the idiots
who hate us. And there is very much that 90s vibe of “If we make a good example,
people will follow” between the end of Wing and the actions of Endless Waltz. I
LOVE the idea of the Wing trying to fight with non-lethal shots (… to the knees
and limbs of mobile suits) but… that shit accomplishes nothing. Unicorn… is
Unicorn. It is amazing but mostly as an endcap to the UC and not as a story.
Yeah. Then I finally get to IBO. Where we rapidly go from an idealistic rich kid
thinking she can negotiate a better future to… let’s kill some mother fuckers
because workers are being oppressed and media is being manipulated to think that
is a good thing. So time to kill some oppressors. And the weird, kind of creepy,
poly mess going on with the friendly ship is just another “Yo, I can think you
are weird while still fighting for your right to exist” that is associated with
social justice. I always loved Gundam but never realized… this shit is insanely
progressive. Came to it MUCH later but reminds me a lot of the Yakuza/Like a
Dragon series in that… it doesn’t at all feel like a stretch. It is just writers
and creators who give a shit about the underdogs writing stories ABOUT the
underdogs. And considering a LOT of the mess going on in Japan… this hits extra
hard. Because I am very used to having to try to ignore some of the weird
politics of the media I love. But this is shit that is making me feel like I am
not doing enough. And I now realize that… Gundam has ALWAYS been doing that.
Good youtubes to learn to improve form?

Good youtubes to learn to improve form? - Lemmy.world
So I fully acknowledge I am not in the best of shape, but I generally find that
I am in better shape than I thought I was from what a drunk nonce of a PE
teacher taught me in high school. A good example is learning that I can actually
do a decent number of pull ups but just don’t know the form to do it when I am
not semi-frantically trying to avoid a ten foot fall. Can anyone recommend any
good youtubes for this? Checked out one that The Algorithm gave me on push-ups
but was about ready to hunt him down and set his home on fire if he said “my
friend” one more time (I get branding but…).
Linux friendly CAD programs? - Lemmy.world
So I recently switched to All Linux, All The Time. No real complaints. But back
in my windows days, I more or less realized that Fusion 360 really is That
Damned Good. Basically every aspect and feature is intuitive in ways that just
seem wrong for a CAD tool It looks like I can use wine and some funky scripts to
run a significantly older build and… I might do that. Or I’ll go back to
tinkercad. And, obviously, FreeCAD is what I should use and FreeCAD might have
the worst UX on the planet. Are there any good middle ground tools? Not quite as
good as FreeCAD but works on linux/wine? Or am I gonna get my TinkerCAD on?
Thanks
Warframe in Linux/Proton? - LemmyWorld
For a range of reasons I am probably going to just switch my primary gaming PC
to linux and leave one drive to boot into windows when I need to. From a bit of
googling, it looks like Warframe in Proton is relatively painless. Are there any
other worries? Looks like DE doesn’t care if players run under Linux based on
checking the forums but I am not missing anything, am I?
