I would love to live in a world where women are always safe with men. But that world doesn't exist just yet.
This isn't about trans women. I'm happy to share a restroom with them, so they can feel safe too.
Some cis-het men leer and make suggestive comments to women out in the open. I don't see how that behaviour would change in the confines of a restroom.
@lulu_powerful I experienced gender neutral bathrooms in Europe. After the first time running into a guy coming out of a stall and thinking I was in the wrong restroom, it was fine. I was there to pee, not check out the guys, they were there to pee, not check out the girls. I don’t even normally make eye contact in the public restroom anyways, so it was cool. If they leered, I didn’t notice anyways.

Jane Adams@johnettesnuggs While the sentiment here is appreciated, I've heard from a number of trans and non-binary people that they feel this trivializes their existence and compares them to "half woman half man", aliens, and (on other versions of the sign) sasquatch and other mythical beings. What the community has generally advised instead is just a sign that shows what facilities each bathroom has (urinals, toilets, baby changing table). Less cheeky but also less literally alienating
