Today marks the end of my last full week working on Android antimalware efforts at Google. I still have a couple of administrative things to wrap up but I will be leaving the company on the 8th next week.
Security is never a solved problem, and our work is no exception. I expect the path ahead to hold many challenges, and am sad I won’t be able to help my team rise to meet them. Regardless, they remain uniquely positioned to tackle the most pervasive threats Android faces today.
I wish them the best in their endeavors to make Android the world’s most secure mobile platform. And I hope Google also continues to strive for what they stand for, both for the sake of my friends still there, and also the products I use myself :)
As per tradition, I’ll have more to say in due time. But until then I’m more than happy to reply in corpspeak to any questions :P
@saagar how come you’ve made more goodbye posts than I’ve had meaningful life experiences
@osy86 You’ve got to get out and meet pe-I mean, switch jobs
@saagar what’s longer? Your CV or a CVS receipt?
@osy86 I keep having to bump the font size down :(
@saagar ok Mr. LinkedIn
@siguza That’s one site I refuse to touch
@saagar Remember that once you leave Google you are technically no longer a genius.
@shac Yes but my next employer gets to brag about a team comprised of ex-Googlers
@saagar @shac which Google processes will you attempt to force your new coworkers to adopt, as is tradition?
@aaron @shac Maybe peer bonuses
@saagar @aaron Bribing people to be helpful and cooperative rather than doing perf-oriented self interest work is the worst of Google.
@shac @aaron I think this is one of those things that requires people to be required to be helpful and cooperative beforehand
@saagar thanks for your work- we will enjoy the fruits of your labor. Hugs.
@saagar congrats and good luck!
