If your complaint is that there is too little fun / shitposting in the fediverse, you are following the wrong people.

That's very true. I use fosstodon mostly on a PC with advanced web view to have multiple columns with hashtags I follow (tweetdeck-style). My main feed is not enough without algorithmic recommendations.
It's an interesting situation. You need to put more effort, but then at least it feels like you're looking at what you've decided you're interested in, not some random "Humans without context" viral post. But it is effort that you might not want to put in 🤷♂️
@JustinH @neil I wouldn't mind some kind of system that allowed one to curate their own experience with some automation. I imagine something that can pull from my fediverse activity, characterize what interests me, present that back to me for validation, and then allow me to submit that model of what I like to fediverse instances to search them for suitable content. Users can pick their curation algorithm and I like the idea of a validation step where you review what it thinks you like. In my case I will interact with politics and economics topics but I might not want to actually add more of that to my life. So I'd probably turn them off. Muckyzuck Co makes money by feeding me more of it though and increasing engagement.
I'm unlikely to look at my social media use and say, "Oh no! I'm spending too much time with planetary scientists and mathematicians doing nerd stuff!" vs political sparring.

@neil A lot of people coming here think that it should just be twitter but you don't get censored.
No, it's twitter but you don't get BOOSTED.
Trolls die here, not because they get owned, but because they are ignored.
@neil (the ban message, as I recall, included the words 'I enjoy potty humor as much as the next person, but[...]')
