Good morning y'all

For those that weren't aware, IEMBot from Iowa State has come to the Fediverse officially. I'll leave it up to the bot maintainers whether or not they would rather continue running their own version which many of you are most likely already following.

Either way, the list of the bots maintained on the Fediverse by IA State can be found from the official site here https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/projects/iembot/#bots

I appreciate all the bot maintainers. Thanks for all y'all have done! ❤️🤗

I have updated the Mastodon links list to include a note on where to find said bots

Big shoutout to @ai6yr and @lckrohjr for the instances beforehand as well as @akrherz and @GWESOfficial for the official migration!

@WXFanatic An important difference is that the iembot project bot feeds don’t appear to provide state-identifying weather hashtags, e.g. MEwx or MEweather, while some of the earlier iembots do. Adding those tags lets you follow a hashtag for your specific state’s weather in a second pane.
@WXFanatic Don’t get me wrong, BTW: we all truly appreciate the work @akrherz has done to bring another instance of iembot feeds. If our X-perience has a lesson, we need multiple sources for critical information like IEM.
@technodad @WXFanatic @akrherz Is Mr. Herz actually here? If so, maybe he can add some hashtags for searchability?
@ai6yr @technodad @WXFanatic at one time, I added hash tags for iembot on twitter and got a fair amount of pushback, so I am nervous about trying that again.
@akrherz @ai6yr @WXFanatic Different medium, different usage pattern. The combination of federation, no algorithmic suggestions, and the diversity of ways people use feeds makes specific hashtags pretty much essential here.
@akrherz @ai6yr @technodad @WXFanatic I agree with others: the hashtags are very important for this platform. Thank you for bringing this here, it’s awesome to see!

@akrherz @ai6yr @technodad Heya! Hashtags make a huge difference on finding content on the Fediverse. For the SPC and accounts similar, #Weather #WX #SPC etc would be great. And all the WFO specific ones should include the state tags like #ILwx #GAwx etc.

On the Fediverse, many people actually follow hashtags, so anyone that follows a specific state/weather hashtag will want to see that come through.

Thanks once again for coming over! It really means a lot and is important to many.

@WXFanatic The biggest thing the IEM bots do is put specific warnings onto the state WX sites. That way people don’t have to scroll through 49 states to find THEIR states. I’m very excited to see if the IEM group adapts to the Fediverse hashtags. If it does it may free up some server space for @ai6yr and @lckrohjr
@BakerRL75 @WXFanatic @ai6yr @lckrohjr iembots are also too chatty to have in your main feed (IMO), especially during #weather events. (Thinking Local Storm Reports especially.)
@technodad @WXFanatic @ai6yr @lckrohjr Well, the actual IEM group is publishing pieces of their reports that the general public would find EXTREMELY USEFUL if we can just get them up to speed up on the hash tag situation. If they don’t people will move on.
