Great big open-source projects

I was talking to a friend today, and suggested using #Matrix for a community we're both in, instead of Slack. #fediverse , you know, and open source, and actually has tools for enforcing standards of conduct. They asked, "Is there a server written in #perl ?"

There is not. The reference implementation is in Python, and it's *massive*. Others have been written in Go and Rust and even C++. But there's no reason it *shouldn't* be doable in @Perl ...

@geekruthie @Perl #Matrix doesn’t natively speak #ActivityPub, which is the lingua franca of the #fediverse.

I found a gateway in #Elixir by @technostructures, though: https://gitlab.com/kazarma/kazarma/

@mjgardner @Perl @technostructures I would wonder how "rooms" in #Matrix would translate; I'll look at how that gateway does it.

Anyone testing #Kazarma, so that we could check how it behaves with several #ActivityPub clients ?
