I see people question @pixelfed over @Mastodon, and that's fine (I ❤️ Mastodon, sent from Mastodon)

However I think it's important to note that Pixelfed has Stories, Collections, Portfolios and much more!

You can post pics on Twitter, but Flickr, 500px and Instagram still thrive!

Use whatever best fits you, and know that @pixelfed + @Mastodon work great together ✨

@dansup @pixelfed @Mastodon Total #pixelfed noob question, how does post from pixelfed that are boosted on mastodon looks like? I guess to get the most of both world this is one should be organised.

Two accounts so that more photos can be posted on pixelfed and only relevant ones will be boosted on mastodon.

Ideally if you could trigger reboost in some way from pixelfed that would be cool but not mandatory.

@marhoff @dansup @pixelfed Yeah, a number of people do that (having a pixelfed account and boosting on mastodon some of their own stuff), the post will look just like another mastodon one, you may check my account here to see for yourself how it looks. (Tbh for posts with multiple photos I even like the view on mastodon more lol)

@brianch @dansup @pixelfed Thanks! Also I notice character limit of pixelfed apply when doing so.

Never thought of that bit. I guess ultimately fediverse compatible blog could become a thing. Share across fediverse and click on the link to view full size blog. For those who go on the blog directly they could be totally unaware of fediverse integration.

Maybe it already exist I should look for it. This is so much powerful than previous social network propositions!

@marhoff @dansup @pixelfed It already exists :) I don't know much about the fediverse blogging platforms though, but look at @yubal for example, you can view it and follow like a regular mastodon account, but if you go to the tree dots on the profile and "open original page" you'll see it's actually a blog. (the platform itself, "writefreely", is open source, but the hosting is paid)

Sorry for the random ping yubal, but I thought it was worth it to demonstrate these cool fediverse things 😅
