GMA had some piece on about 45's growing indictment, & two different people opined about the story. One: They should just leave that poor man alone. Two: I don't care about Hunter Biden or Trump, all I want to know is how much taxpayer money has been wasted on these investigations. Also Two, "all presidents have done it" (taken classified material from the WH). 🤯 I believe it.

Biden is old, but healthier than Trump. What's more likely is that a few weeks before the election, some bad actor (media, some Republican in the government, Trump campaign) will make some non-story into a huge deal (like Hillary and that laptop) and it swings it for Trump.

@flexghost I honestly believe it does when the child is young. If they are educated early they seem to repel the "Christian" thing. I have experience with Gen Z and they have statistically no religion. That's why the MOL fascists are trying so hard. The young kids coming up hate religion, xenophobia, homophobia and all the far right ideas.
I'm not as hopeful. 20 years ago, we were talking about the young 20-30 yr-old voters will get rid of the old bigots and religious nuts, instead, now 40-50 yr olds are mostly voting for those bigots and religious nuts. We can't operate as if the next generation will save us. It should be on us to make the change now.

Fucking do something to change it. Doom posting unfortunately gets more engagement because complaining is easier than fixing. We organized and beat the GOP & we will do it again.
Hell yeah! I understand (and share) the awful feelings when one looks at these horrors, but if we're not talking about how to get active to fix them, then what's the point?
But I also think just saying "do something" leaves people thinking "okay, what?", so I try to give a specific, if small, action when replying like this. And you can join me, and become a "specific action reply person" too! Whattaya say?
@jztusk @flexghost Personally I encourage people to call everyone they know friends, fam and friendly acquaintances and make them all periodically check their registration. Do it several times between now and the actual vote and don’t just nag think of something kind or funny so it’s a conversation and not just one sided.
All my friends are compulsive types who never miss an election. So I have to resort to bugging random people on social apps. 😆
Seriously though, we did it in 2020, and I believe we can do it in 2024. They've worked hard to deny people their votes (especially black americans), but I'm ready to dive back in and help and encourage those on the front lines of oppression.

You can join a GOTV effort and by syncing your phone contacts to the app you can indicate whether a contact is a likely voter for Dem or Rep. this lets others using the app target Dem voters and not waste time. You can also join the effort with texts and phone calls for people in your neighborhood or nearby.

First, it's wonderful that you do those things, and thank you.
And second, can I suggest you include at least a mention of what you're doing when you point out stuff like this? I know a lot of people who are scared into inaction when they contemplate these horrible people, and I think letting them know that there are things they can do, and having you as a sympathetic model will encourage people.
Oh, and as to your question: I donate and participate in the Vote Forward letter writing campaign. I'm in deep blue so local organizing isn't much use. I also did a small amount of phone banking before, and hope to get more into that in '24. I found it kind of intimidating, but I did get to be on a volunteer's Zoom call with Alyssa Milano!
