What’s was the first game you bought for yourself? Not sure if #SuperMarioWorld for the #SNES counts because it was a pack-in but I also bought #StreetFighter2Turbo at the same time

@mrpablington Super Mario Land 2? I think? I bought a GameBoy in '93 with my first paycheck. I'm fairly certain it came with Tetris, and I know I had SML2, which came out in '92, so I'm pretty sure I got the console and game at the same time.

@mrpablington Probably Final Fantasy VIII for PC, right after it came out in '98 or '99. Everything before that (that I can think of) was either bought by my parents or was simple freeware stuff.

@mrpablington the first game I did the whole ‘work all summer and have mom make up the rest’ was Super Mario RPG. First one I bought with entirely my own money? Don’t remember. I did spend a bunch of lawn money on blockbuster rentals.
@mrpablington
I honestly don't remember, but the first Current Gen (at the time) console that I bought new was the Sega Saturn that came with the 3-in-1 game bundle. I bought it just because I loved Daytona USA in the arcade so much! (The home port did not disappoint!)

@mrpablington I honestly can’t remember….

I’m guessing it would have been for the Genesis, otherwise it was definitely something on PlayStation.

@mrpablington I have to admit, I only ever bought ONE single game, this was called #KryptonEgg, yet another #Breakout clone which I only bought (for the PC) because #Amegas (on the #Amiga) fascinated me, and it was for sale at a department store, boxed, budget 😂

But I very much enjoyed quite a few video games on the good old #C64. You know, back then, there was the school yard, and if you were knowledgable, you could even deal *that* (offering help) for some copies .... 🙈

@mrpablington The first I bought with money I gained by myself was Zelda TP (along with a Wii), thanks to a summer job when I was sixteen.

But I remember being very excited to go buy Mortal Kombat 3 on SNES with my father thanks to the good grades I had at the time, going to a few stores until finding one that was selling it :). I had the chance to play it previously somewhere else, and I really wanted to have it since I had no other way to play it again.
