@AccordionBruce I went on a bit of an eBay Leon Sash buying spree last night & bought "This Is The Jazz Accordion," "HI-FI HOLIDAY FOR ACCORDION," "The Master," & what is apparently a sealed copy of "I Remember Newport":

I'm not sure if I even want to open it. Having heard the album, though, I probably will so I can listen to it. I think Hi-Fi Holiday was only $1.50. Cheers!

Love to hear your reviews of each! 🪗 🔊👂🏾
@AccordionBruce Groovy, I'll write something up for you after I've listened to them. The first time I heard Leon I thought he was an amazing acordionist, but his playing kinda bored me after awhile. He's really starting to grow on me, though. I didn't mean to buy 4 albums in one go. It's just that they were affordably priced and I couldn't say no. I grabbed a few Mat Mathews' albums last month, one of which I still haven't had time to listen to. Cheers!

@UkuleleG3orge
My recollection is that the posthumous album of early 78 recordings “The Master” was more lively than some of his later ones. “Hi-Fi” might also be jumpin’?

We should start tagging him

@AccordionBruce I'll let you know. I had listened to Hi-Fi a number of times a few years ago and was a little indifferent to it, but I gave it another listen recently and enjoyed it much more. I think this says way more about me than Leon, though.
I've been digging Jo Bastile's jazz album lately, too. Cheers!

It makes me wish for the missing #AliceHall albums is what it does 😿

@AccordionBruce From the recordings I've heard of Alice Hall that do exist, she was on🔥when she played 🪗.

1949 she supposedly had a contract for an album, but we only got the one 78

That missing recording session pains me

@AccordionBruce do we know if she recorded more during that session that was never released or was it just that 78 they recorded?

@UkuleleG3orge
Michal Shapiro tried to get Alice back in the studio while working on the Planet Squeezebox anthology, but said that folks dissuaded Alice from doing it 😞

Michal said she may have come on too strong as an over enthusiastic Jewish fan-girl record producer from NY?

And maybe Alice was already having issues with the dementia that I think made it so I could not have interviewed her even a few years later if I had had the chance

@AccordionBruce An interview with her would have been a fabulous addition to your book. Alice was a smoking hot player. The recordings I've heard she's deftly barreling along at full force. She sounds so excited to be playing. More recordings would have been awesome!
