@Aminorjourney all the leafs are brown, and the sky is grey
(when it comes to public DCFC)
On a winter’s day
Leaf owners will be safe and warm
(as these cars can actually do V2H today)
@Aminorjourney
Chademo demise is unsurprising, the writing has been on the wall before NACS.
EA announced in 2022 that they were not deploying any new Chademo plugs.
That isn't to make light of the fact it sucks for anyone with a Chademo car. Just one more example of tech "progress" not caring about leaving some behind.
@Aminorjourney every CHAdeMO connector installed is one less J3400 or CCS connector that could have been installed. In a world where we still have to wait in line to charge that is important.
Because of relatively lower range and longer charging times Leafs (Leaves?) are less likely to be road tripped and so the ports are likely to be less utilized. At what's point does it make sense to simplify everything by dropping support especially since we believe that CCS and J3400 will share software?
@scerruti That’s not actually true. We’ve had multi outlet stalls for years. And cars that do need the connector aren’t relatively low value items like cellphones that get changed every two years
We’ve got to stop being so wasteful.
@Aminorjourney I was trying to express not that with is true but why people have these attitudes towards CHAdeMO. We would need to see utilization numbers from the charging networks to make reasoned conclusions.
The solution for CHAdeMO vehicles to overcome charging scarcity may be OEM or third party vehicle modifications. But, https://twitter.com/NissanUSA/status/1562528547952275461
“@Richard83519554 Nissan does not have future plans to offer a conversion from CHAdeMO to CCS for our existing LEAF customers. CHAdeMO quick-charge stations are still being installed to match the demand for these vehicles, and all Nissan EV-certified dealers will be required to have both chargers.”
