I think one of the least competent #SCOTUS ever was the Justice Samuel case: it basically guts the Constitutional prohibition against *ex post facto* (retroactive) law. Per Samuel, the prohibition only applies to criminal law.

That is how you get civil laws that violate the plain and inescapable meaning of *ex post facto*. Sometimes worse, you get regulatory agencies that change their minds *overnight* and begin enforcing their edicts with even less warning than this.

@profoundlynerdy @JaneRLaForge Alito is corrupt as fuck anyway, it belies belief that there is no way to rectify judge stacking of the supreme court. I hope that those of you who *can* vote in US elections do what you can to prevent fucking over the rest of the world.
