@misc @GottaLaff when they went on strike 26 years ago, they were on strike for something like 12 or 13 working days. UPS caved and gave into all their demands when customers started bailing. Then the teamsters got Hoffa as their rep, and he was basically a UPS employee. He always started negotiations by saying they wouldn’t strike, and was terrible! Thankfully O’Brien is heading the teamsters now.

@GottaLaff the Union got every single one of their demands. Power to the workers!!!! The company can afford to take care of their employees, they make 40 million in profit daily! Fun fact, UPS was started by Jim Casey, a pro Union man who wanted Union workers.

@GottaLaff @petep44 @cowvin Mastodon gets too much of a bad rap for “being hard,” “being confusing,” and “Can’t replace the immediacy of Twitter.” I’ve never had a problem with the first 2, I just signed up and started posting. Thank you for for posting real time news! My day job when I’m not writing is helping run a warehouse. We’ve had a lot of hesitation about a pending strike. I actually saw your post about an hour before receiving an email from my UPS rep. Mastodon for the win!

@dickrubin716 I found Mastodon awkward at first, but not hard. It takes more steps and effort than Twitter does to do some tasks, but overall, not difficult at all. And they’re the only one who provides columns, like TweetDeck does.
