Erik Uden 🚩Hey @taylorlorenz, this may be even worse than you thought: The Washington Post un-indexed the article, so that no search engine is allowed to index it.
I used this index checker to both check an arbitrary WaPo article and the one you sent. You could try more articles to see if this is more of a common thing.
The way it looks to me now is that the Washington Post basically shadow-banned this article.

Auschwitz MemorialMost Jews deported by the German Nazis to Auschwitz for extermination were promised resettlement & new life. They packed their suitcases with all the essential items. Hope was used as a weapon.
The suitcases we preserve and display at the Memorial are important documents as they carry the names of their owners.
