"The Nazis were socialists!"

The Nazis claimed to be 'National' as well but, last I checked, they did wander beyond their own country's borders somewhat.

Perhaps unquestioning acceptance of the self-appointed labels of fascists isn't the wisest approach? Just a thought, like

@Garwboy The "nazis were socialist" claims belong to what I call the "Buffalo Wings Theory of Political Nomenclature"
@bthalpin @Garwboy, National Sozialismus was an expression invented by Hitler to seek the votes of the working class to be the majority. It had nothing to do with political programs, but directly an indication to reserve sovereignty for the German (national) Aryan race and eliminate all who did not conform to this maxime and were not of "pure race" (Jews first, but also gays, disabled, gypsies...). Something similar arose in the US with the White Supremacists and groups like the KKK until today
@Garwboy That's why I trust no one, anymore, in the political realm and vote n-th party where I can.
@Garwboy fair point, very well made! 👏👏👏
@Garwboy couldn't agree more. How about we apply the same to people calling themselves democrats while supporting war after war?
@Garwboy Yes, it's just like those "Honest John's Used Cars" signs, if you feel the need to widely proclaim that you are honest it makes it doubtful that you are. Evil people always co-opt good things to camouflage their intent.

@Garwboy

Hitler and Mussolini were initially supported by the rich, not just in their countries but elsewhere in the West, because they were seen as barriers against the spread of communism.

Hence the okay to the tightly-controlled and limited socialist reforms of those regimes, which ensured popular support within their countries. The elite was on their side, as long as it kept its privileges, and communists were squashed...

@Garwboy Naziism wasn't socialism, regardless of their name. They were fascists. Fascism is an inherently right-wing ideology. The right loves to play rhetorical tricks, and intentionally misuse words.
@Garwboy socialism was simply the big word of the era, everybody wanted a piece of that
@Garwboy north korea is "democratic"
@chrisisgr8 @Garwboy And a republic! This just in, all republic are bad!

@Garwboy Didn’t they kinda do that because it appealed to workers (national socialist German worker’s party) and because the communists were their opponents?

I mean, the reason so many socialist/communist states failed is because dictators lie. They say whatever the people want to hear, and then do something else.

@Garwboy The Nazis were nationalists, but they don't want to acknowledge that...
