The #Linux command line (GUIs too), needs controlled language. A standard set of words that mean only one thing, similar to #Catepillar or #Aircraft #Maintenance #English.

-i, --install, install = install
-u, --uninstall, uninstall = uninstall
etc.

The last is particularly troublesome, as utilities use -r, -e, --uninstall, --remove, --erase, etc.

I'm sure this would be tied up in committee for decades, but the need is there.

@JohnAtl can I not use -u for other things then if I dont handle packages?

This would be nice to have a common arguments list, but we have more important issues to tackle.

@JohnAtl it's worse than being tied up in committee: there just *isn't* a committee. nobody can, realistically, make this happen.
