Spoke to a supporter this week who said, "I had a stroke 9 months ago. I'm now disabled & paying thousands a month despite having health insurance. I'm financially ruined."

Of all developed nations, such injustice only exists in the United States. This is the end result of our for profit health industry. Enough.

We Need Guaranteed Healthcare.✊🏽

And when I’m in Congress you can bet I’ll fight relentlessly for it.❤️

@QasimRashid That supporter may well have gotten the stroke as a result of #SARS2 infection. Strokes are unfortunately a common outcome of #covid.

Which makes me ask—were you wearing a mask while speaking with that person? If not, why not? There’s about 1/3 as much virus circulating here in Eastern Washington as there’s been for most of the #pandemic. The #virus hasn’t gotten any less dangerous.

@edsuom @QasimRashid Ed, I kind of think you got sidetracked away from his main point. 😀
@THEDisneyGeek @edsuom we're all being sidetracked from covid and are paying dearly for it

@QasimRashid

GOP billionaire donors are busy buying a president to make sure no one has help with their medical bills, or even a choice reproductive health care

All GOP candidates are bought to stop health care for women & LGBTQ

The billionaires buying Tim Scott to enact a anti-democracy agenda
Larry Ellison
Andy Sabin
Ronald Lauder
Ken Griffin
Tom Peed
Stanley Druckenmiller
Also bought a coup attempt, 147 election deniers, 6 corrupt Supreme Court Justices, a war on Ukraine & a frying planet

@Npars01 @QasimRashid sounds like a bad use of money tbh. Trump will wipe his ass with Tim Scott and then lose again to Biden.

@QasimRashid

Just to say: this guy ⬆️⬆️⬆️ is worth your support.

@QasimRashid what good person WOULDNT fight for it
@QasimRashid @neutron_chick It’s not just the for-profit angle that is terrible, it’s the angle of some people that say things like, why should I pay taxes so you can get treatment? Do it yourself. That’s even worse.
@QasimRashid You can fight it all you want but at the end of it you got to change the core systemic failure - Greed & Profit
@QasimRashid Only in the US do people have to file bankruptcy because of medical bills.

@QasimRashid

I am Canadian, diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer in 2022. I had specialist consultations, tests, a biopsy, more consultations, scans, surgery, a hospital stay, nurse visits, hormone treatment, seven weeks of radiation. I meet with an oncologist and urologist annually, after blood tests.

Cost to me was about $250, to travel to the hospital (65km) and back, and pay for hospital parking.

In the USA this would have cost me $150,000-$250,000 and forced us into bankruptcy.

@QasimRashid U Yes we need national healthcare. Especially with corporation trying to make every job a contract or part time position where you do not get health insurance benefits. Covid exposed all of that. Yet the arguments against national healthcare keep coming.
@QasimRashid if you’re disabled, don’t you qualify for benefits like social security and Medicare?
@QasimRashid Being from #Poland, I can only say: yeah, you deserve it. As all human beings in XXI century do.
@QasimRashid until you get their,then like all "on both sides" you'll do the Urkel ..."Oh Did I Say That "
D C. 24🐮💩cycle ,you can't rinse as its on infinite repeat 😤😔
@QasimRashid The USA; where you’re only ever one good stroke away from bankruptcy.
@QasimRashid And, please, none of this waiting for years before changes are implemented. I’m (im)patiently waiting for 2025 so I ONLY have to pay $2000 out of pocket for my meds on Medicare. Right now, it’s over $500 a month and I’m nowhere nearing covering the gap. One more year of this. Yay. (Yeah, changes should be effective immediately; seniors don’t have years to wait for this shit.) thank you!
@QasimRashid will you vote to expand the illegitimate supreme court? If not, anything you aspire to accomplish is DoA
@bdp I’ve long called to expand the Court to 13

@QasimRashid For as much as you yell and scream about this, as a Canadian the mantra and profiteering is now seeping into Canada. Telus has been running private healthcare (yes the cellphone provider) for some time now, Ontario's premier Mr. Ford along with others are actively defunding our public system, blaming them for not performing, and touting a "two tiered" system, in spite of input and advice from Doctors, and other professionals that this is not the way.

I'm both appauled and forelorn

@QasimRashid I don't know what stat is your residence, but if it is a "blue"state, it should be easy to apply for long-term medicaid or the regular medicaid and SSDI/SSI with Medicare and Part D. Get a lawyer because the process will be easier and the outcome will be better. I did it alone and it was frustrating and the outcome wasn't as good as for others. If you are in a blue state, it will be a lot easier and you can get ACA which is very good.
