If you're posting a poll through a Mastodon server's website interface, you can switch between "one answer allowed" and "multiple answers allowed" by clicking the circles next to the answers. When clicked they turn into squares, when clicked again they turn back into circles.

⚫ Circles mean only one answer is allowed, and is the default.

◼️ Squares mean multiple answers are allowed.

(Apps will have their own interface for switching between these options.)

@feditips sadly, very few people younger than me know why the "one choice" is called a "radio button"...

@emag @feditips Young people don't know that radios used to have station buttons.

Oh well, young people maybe don't even know what a radio is.

oh that's interesting! made less relevant by auto-seek and then digital radios? similar mechanism to cassette players I guess.

I think @vwestlife did a really good job of explaining radio's advantages:

No power supply or internet or any other infrastructure required, no subscription. Even equipment from approx. 100 years ago is still compatible.

Modern tech is really weak and fragile. It is a sign of failure that new services require people to buy new equipment.

Radio is really durable, and it's still the only way to communicate with a mass audience in a disaster situation.
