This Sunday I’ll be preaching again as the pastor here in 🇨🇦…

I’ll be speaking on Mark 2:1-12, where Jesus heals a paralyzed man who is brought & carried by his friends (& who lower him down through the roof).

What stands out to you in this passage?
Do you have any hot takes?

Thank you for taking the time to share all of your insights on Mark 2!

Here’s how my message turned out on Sunday:

@timamor I find it interesting that no one says anything about the hole in the roof. I don't know if the roofs at the time were super easy to remove and replace, but I love that the general consensus seems to be "yeah, fair call" and not "you property damaging hooligans! Could you not just have waited??"
After all, what's a roof compared to a human's health - and still more, to a human's soul?
@timamor nothing to add, just that this has always been one of my favorites

@timamor I find the urgency to be key: that faith called them to bring their friend to Christ rather than waiting for Him in a more convenient place.

Also that sometimes we can't come to Jesus through our own power, but by the grace and efforts of our community.

No hot takes. I'm sure it was just an existing chimney hole, or a thatch roof that would be easy to move aside and then move back.

@timamor My take-away: If you believe something will happen, then you'll take drastic action according to that belief.
@timamor the stand outs for me: the miracle was done as a sign to prove his claim to be God (and able to forgive sins). At the end they all glorified God.
