Obsidian Roadmap

We're chipping away at improvements to Obsidian. Learn about what's coming next.

Obsidian

@obsidian The new #Obsidian roadmap should be much more discoverable for most people than the Trello version. There’s some great stuff in there that I’m looking forward to!

(A little sad that in-place editing of transclusions still isn’t on the list, though…)

@EpiphanicSynchronicity @obsidian I note full standard Markdown export seems to have disappeared from the new roadmap, having been leapfrogged many times by new features that were never on the old roadmap.

@obsidian
> Mobile quick capture

Yessssss! That's been the reason why I've still kept another not taking app around.

@tobtobxx @obsidian what other app do you use for quick capture/ what behavior does it have that's useful?

@maxbittker Well... just a text editor app, plain text.

- Instant load time, don't have to wait to type (especially useful for writing things down in-conversation)
- Doesn't keep my last document open (so just one tap, and I'm ready to write)

ie. just "one tap and I can instantly write".

Imagine this: You talk with a friend and she tells you a nice thought. "Wait, let me pull up Obsidian, wait 1s, switch to a good document to note this down and then write it."

@maxbittker
Now imagine: You talk with a friend and she tells you a nice thought. "Wait, let me just write this down." While you clicked the tile/launcher icon/whatever and already wrote "Name:".

@obsidian

@maxbittker
I don't care that I have to clean the "quick dump" document up afterwards at a computer (thanks, Obsidian Sync).
I also don't care if I only have a basic text line input field, I don't need no fancy MD in that moment.

But I do care that I saved the 3 seconds startup time and had a chance to non-awkwardly capture the idea.

@obsidian

@obsidian this is awesome. Definitely one of my favourite apps, developers and communities
@obsidian 2FA ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ Y'all are just non-stop rolling out so many goods. Thank you! :)
@obsidian what might mobile quick capture look like?
@obsidian Did you take out native Task Management or am I mental and that wasn't ever there?
@productnook @obsidian it definitely was there, I remember it was well. In fact I think it was next in line to get implemented after PDF support, now it's gone.

@obsidian

Table editing! So glad to see that on the roadmap.

@obsidian @kepano This is Awesome!!

Can’t wait for 2FA & a new editor for properties.

I'd love to see Background Sync & Widgets (now is the perfect time for widgets!)

Also the Mobile Quick Capture - I'd love to see @kepano's web clipper integrated into this. Clipping a web page via the sharesheet would be epic. Maybe the Web Clipper should be a Core Plugin! It’d certainly fit the bill.

@obsidian I'm really looking forward to visual editor for markdown tables.
