Since my self-hosted Mastodon instance seems to have stabilized now, it's time for an #introduction

I am Francis Rubio, a   web developer and designer from the #Philippines. I also created @antaresphdev to talk about web dev to #Filipino devs in #Tagalog

I write about my life, career, and technology on my website https://francisrubio.antaresph.dev/.

I also post corny #Pinoy jokes, so now you can't complain; you've been warned.

I can't migrate to this account yet so I'll be maintaining the other account @teacherbuknoy, but I'll be posting more on this account.
@teacherbuknoy how much gastos mo sa server and where?
@teacherbuknoy @antaresphdev is it difficult to have a self-hosted Mastodon instance?
@endocrine_witch I think it's more tedious than it is difficult. There's a ton of steps involved in setting things up. Maintenance can be automated afterwards, so I guess once you got it up and running, everything is smooth sailing.
@teacherbuknoy thanks. I'm toying with the idea as our regular #HealthXPH tweet chat needs a new home.

What are Pinoy Jokes? I looked around your profile but couldn’t find any. Basically, I’m intrigued.

I posted some jokes I saved from Twitter under #twitterjokes if you like jokes. I like jokes.

@jens they're jokes that would be more appreciated by Filipinos because it speaks more to our culture or everyday lives that may or may not be understood in other cultures. A lot of them are just jokes and puns in Filipino, our national language.

One example is this one post from the other account of mine. I'm just asking, "How do you think would platelets feel like if we scratch off scabs from wounds that they make to heal it?" Just a silly thought in Filipino every day vernacular, so it's funnier (or it should be, at least).

Ano kaya napi-feel ng mga platelets pag tinutuklap natin yung peklat na gawa nila ta's dumugo ulet?

It’s true. I couldn’t get it. But i think these types of jokes usually says something about a culture. Thanks for trying.
