Using a different app for each day every day next week to pick the best one. - Lemmy.world

They were ordered randomly.

Starting day 1 with Summit and things are already not looking good. I don’t think I can check my profile or notifications.

If I don’t reply to comments today blame this thing :D. I’m not switching to a different app until tomorrow even to check my inbox.

Update 1: They updated the inbox thing during my day with Summit and it actually feels very good now. They just need to add profiles and it will actually be a viable option for my full-time app. I do miss Liftoff’s feature where I can see all the new comments on my community tho.

You’ll have a better day tomorrow.
I sure hope so 😅
It all about perspective. Sure, you may be having app problems, but at least you have access to clean private restrooms and your diet isn't limited to beef jerky and cheese.
They were clean and private i just had other reasons 😅
Lol I just released an update that adds the inbox. Check the play store to get the update.
Holy cow! It’s amazing that y’all added the inbox the day I started using this thing. My day will be 10x better now thanks a lot!
This was just a huge coincidence. Inbox took ~3 days to implement and it just so happened to be released now lol. If you have any feedback I’d love to hear it over at lemmy.world/c/summit.

I’ve replaced Lemmotif with Wefwef as Lemmotif doesn’t support login yet. If I get two apps with missing inboxes in a row I’ll open up Liftoff for a few minutes to reply to messages. Bye for now as it’s hard to find this post every time I want to reply to comments.

Can’t tell if you are just a power user, or Lemmy is so small it’s easy to run into micro celebrities.

Big fan, can I get an autograph?

I use whatever Lemmy client I’m on more than any other app on my phone ;)

I’m currently on the toilet (still recovering from the three days) but I’ll give it to you once I’m done

I don’t think Summit will let me add images… I’ll show it to you when I move on to Connect
Summit does support images. Its a bit hidden. When you are composing a message there is a toolbar that allows you to add formatting and stuff. If you scroll all the way to the end there is a add iamge button.
Found it. Thanks!

OP actually delivered! 🤩

Class act.

the thing i’m finding with the apps is that as the backend is upgraded/patched/changes the apps all respond differently to those changes. on top of that, updates to the apps themselves can cause erratic behavior. i’m looping thru 4 right now just trying to find something consistent.
I’m gonna keep the most promising ones downloaded to keep up with the new updates
Memmy?
I’m on Android
Memmy is an android client too
They claim to be, but they haven’t pubslished any Android builds as of yet.

Do you have a link for the Android client? I don’t see it in the GitHub repo.

Liking Connect so far myself.
I am waiting for boost for Lemmy.
Using connect now and it’s pretty good. But i eagerly await Boost.
Same here. The only issue I’ve found with Connect so far is that it won’t allow me to download photos.

Missing wefwef. Every app has its flaw, but Connect of the more feature-rich.

It’s easy to complain about the bugs in every one of them, but let’s not forget that for the vast majority of us, we didn’t even know that Lemmy ever existed a month ago.

Progress has been astounding

I didn’t realize this at first, but using Firefox it just installs as a home screen shortcut, but if you install from Chrome it adds it to your app drawer like an actual native app.
It installed like an app for me. Then they updated and told to remove and re-add. And now it just installs as a home screen shortcut.
Truly astounding! I’m getting updates from the Play Store almost every day. Hats off to the hard working Devs.
Well put. The developers behind the apps have been on their toes to provide a more accessible experience to the community, albeit with different visions. :-)
I’ve tried Jerboa, Summit and Liftoff but my daily is wefwef because it has the most complete interface.
Does wefwef not work on Android?
Use chrome and install it as an add to Home Screen
I’ve used Jerboa for a while, but now I’ve switched to Liftoff. Great interface, no lags, and better customization possibilities.
Is there a way to hide posts you’ve interacted with/voted/whatever?
You mean like in an RSS reader? Not that I’m aware of
What’s the difference?
I used Jerboa but switched now also, subtle but experience seems slightly smoother
I tried liftoff but for me it’s super slow / freezes.
Can’t find thunder on the Playstore, so far it’s either connect or liftoff. Connect works better but liftoff looks better. But I really hope boost for Lemmy will be released soon
You’re able to preregister on the Google play store
Omg yes, ty 😀
Can you send the link? I can’t find it.

I’m using Jerboa. It’s ok. No big complaints.
Jerboa is way better compared to three weeks ago when it came out
Waiting patiently for Sync as I keep using Jerboa.
Same! I was using Sync pro for reddit and I’m on the email list for their Lemmy client, but Jerboa seems decent enough for now.
Save yourself the trouble and use Liftoff. I mean, if Jerboa is working for you reliably then great! I myself had a lot of connectivity issues and generally found it difficult to navigate the settings and instances/communities. Liftoff is so smooth.
