Now that I think of it, I actually started (never finished) two fantasy consoles. Well, not consoles. Fantasy machines?
One of them was called -2 (I thought it was kind of funny using a negative number as "brand") and emulated an old LCD touchscreen with 4 shades of (brownish) gray. You used the mouse to simulate the stylus and had a cute little windowing GUI that resembled old Macs.

@kkarhan I imagined it more like a hybrid of a Newton and a Nokia Communicator.

@kkarhan Yes! I had a 9500. Great little machines!

@vi I do aim at something similar, tho not a #console but a nifty little device that does encrypted messaging...

Problem is to source some tiny, HDMI(!) driven panels and design a case for a @Raspberry_Pi #Pi0 v1.3 + extra components... https://github.com/KBtechnologies/PocketCrypto

@kkarhan That is SO COOL. Doesn't the Pi do VGA? Probably easier to find small panels. Or even embed some kind of conversion circuit.

@vi sadly, no.

the @Raspberry_Pi only does #HDMI and I struggle to find some panels that don't block the #GPIO using SPI and requiring questionable scripts and/or dont work from boot on a CLI...

@vi @Raspberry_Pi And the #VT69 by #ViolenceWorks does provide a #CLI interface, but it's way bulkier than what I want the #PocketCrypto to me...

@vi @Raspberry_Pi Instead I want some "rugged chonker" like the #Iridium 9555 in terms of dimensions...

you know, the kind of thing that'll take 18650 cells an doubles as throwing weapon!

Maybe make it fold open like a Communicator to allow for a comfy thumb keyboard...

But otherwise, I want a device that'll outlive me in terms of ruggedness...
