As this DKos story notes, there is also a push for a November measure to legalize pot, so there will be another substantial constituency available to activate to defeat the August referendum.
Groups hoping to enshrine abortion rights in Ohio’s constitution delivered nearly double the number of signatures needed to place an amendment on the fall statewide ballot, aiming to signal sweeping widespread support for an issue that still faces the...
@georgetakei
Grateful for positive political news for change.
I still feel that two amendments should be added to the Constitution.
1. Terms limits should be set for SCOTUS.
2. Ethics should be defined and adhered to.
@tienle47 @darthstar @georgetakei
FL did it in 1980.
They just ignore the state constitution.
@darthstar @georgetakei
FL already did it and had subsequentceffirts to undo it overturned. In 1980
Republicans banned it anyway, ignoring the state constitution.
Everytime we have ballot measures recently, the gerrymandered supermajority passes laws weakening whatever was passed as well.
We get a monthly reminder of Dobbs.
There's not enough campaign money in the world to pay for such personal repeated reminders on any other issue. Republicans thinking the issue will die down or go away fail to recognize this.
@JJPeterson or, here's a thought: candidates could earn their votes?
Keeping Republicans from winning isn't really win when the other candidate is basically just a Republican in a blue suit. The DNC needs to put forward better candidates.
@JJPeterson kid? Lol. I'm 36. I take fiber supplements. My hair is going gray. But I'll happily take the compliment on my apparently youthful appearance. It's been a while!
I have no delusions as to what socialism is. And if you think 12 hours a day, 6 days a week is a scary workload, you're far more out of touch with working Americans than you realize. Holy shit.
My state voted to protect abortion rights on 1980 and the Grand Wizard of our state ignored our state constitution.
@georgetakei is definitely important to vote for women and their doctors to direct each woman's health care journey.
The #Ohio legislature is trying to move this vote to August so they can have lower total #turnout (with a higher R percentage). So voters should be ready to vote in August and November.
