This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office.
2) Elected officials rewrite the rules in the donors' favor.
3) Donors make a huge profit.
4) Repeat.

For the sake of democracy, we must get Big Money out of politics.

Sang myself the Chore Song while I swept and mopped this afternoon. It goes like this:

A half-assed job is better than none,
better than none,

A half-assed job is better than none,
because half a chore's still some.

Other verses include:

* Can't do it all but I can do some
* It won't be perfect, but then, what is?

I find this song very comforting at times.

I've been trying to find the right way to articulate this-- but the folks on the right have it backwards about who is driven by "white guilt" --

This impulse to cover up and distort the history of slavery reeks of shame. It's, frankly, weird. Nobody has perfect ancestors, what sort of crisis of identity leads one to lie about the past.

It's just the things that happened. You learn about them you learn from them. You do better. Don't make it so emotional and personal.
