A sponsor of the bill seems to believe that it does, in fact.
> The bill is sponsored by Republican Florida state Representative Stan McClain ... Ashley Gantt questioned ... "So if little girls experience their menstrual cycle in fifth grade or fourth grade, will that prohibit conversations from them since they are in the grade lower than sixth grade?" ... McClain responded, "It would."

So it's very good to have other available resources.
Of course, if the bill would not actually ban teaching kids younger than sixth grade about menstruation, that's great! But I'd want to hear that from someone who actually wrote the bill.
i like how "illegal in the EU" means it probably violated a human right and "illegal in florida" means it probably is a human right
Ah yes, because it's not possible for people to get periods before sixth grade. /s
God, sometimes I'm glad I don't live in America - what in the ever loving fuck is happening over there?
@textfiles Thank you for sharing this. This is the first I've heard about the bill, but it sounds like another step in legislating enslavement. The less civilians know about their bodies, the more power the state has over them.
It's an abuser dynamic, too. Taking away a person's knowledge of themself can make them dependent on the abuser.
@textfiles I tried to do my duty and load the site, but it is 'offline'.
Will try again in a couple hours.
@textfiles … Thank you!
& worst/best hot-take:
(knowing this *can* be a thing for a small %, in 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade)
fine. actually, medical stuff, for small children …
teachers don’t get paid enough to deal with this. 🤷♀️ #PayTeachersMore
how about, maybe your Family Doctor should deal with this?
and everyone should have a GP! #medicare4all
(and for this one, almost any smart Dr. will refer this off to their best Nurse.) 🤷♀️ #PayNursesMore
🤪
@textfiles … worked in a school, in a foreign country, once … so, we had basically zero expectation of gov’t support with anything, anywhere. 🤦♀️🤣
we had a School Nurse who definitely had to help a few kids with this. She didn’t get paid enough to do the job, in general. This topic … I saw how much she did, with no help. 🫡
We were all undervalued … but she was *invaluable,* as these thing go. 💜
@textfiles Wow ... I guess it's too bad for the young people who begin menstruating before that, as some of my friends did ... and whose parents may not be as forthcoming with information as one might like.
I'd say it's unbelievable, but here we are.
