Don't be fooled by the Republicans' intra-party "fighting" over the government shutdown. They're essentially all in on this.

Their goal(s)? Occam's Razor says:

1) Trigger a recession that -- because Big Journalism will publish whatever the Republicans claim, however untrue -- will be blamed on Democrats since they hold the White House.

2) Panic the Democrats (again with journalism's help) to give into massive cuts in programs that, you know, help people.

Update for those interested: I lost about half my plants, mostly the succulents, but got a bunch more indoor #Plants to help me feel better. My indoor climate is much more humid and warm so my new tropicals are doing really well. And I have a volunteer avocado that sprouted in its Trader Joe's bag, growing up fast!

This is Ryssbergen, a small, forested area just outside of central Stockholm. It has been left alone for at least 400 years so it has developed a very high biodiversity and hosts several red-listed species. It is an irreplaceable piece of nature and, to my knowledge, the only old forest so close to a large city. The municipality of Nacka now wants to build 12-story houses, a car dealership and a McDonald’s here. An eco-crime being committed right now.

This is Rambo, one of a litter of puppies that my neighbors and I rescued from the swamp that runs around our neighborhood. We found a home for him, he has been happily living with them for several years now. When you get art from me, it helps my wife and I do this type of work. We have found homes for about 35 dogs and cats since we started doing this type of work about 7 yrs ago. Saw this wild scene go down today and I wanted to share it with y’all. I was hanging out on 29th street when this self-driving car came to a stop in a nearby lane. I’m not sure if it was stuck or waiting for a pickup, but it sure was absolutely blocking traffic. After five minutes, a cyclist came by and yelled at the car to move. When it didn’t, he pulled out this “No Techno Fascists” sticker and slapped it on the window.
