Three people killed and eight wounded in mass shooting at July 4 fireworks event in Fort Worth

The massacre unfolded just before midnight on Monday night as revellers gathered to enjoy Independence Day celebrations in the area of Diaz Avenue and Horne Street in Fort Worth’s Como neighbourhood

The Independent
@flexghost four more in Philly last night according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
@StrugglingGuitarist it’s pretty much just local news outlets talking about them now
@flexghost 2 mass shootings in 3 days. That unregulated militia sure is busy killing and maiming innocent people.
@artesianspring it’s a good thing we still have muzzle loading muskets. Can you imagine the carnage if we had modern rifles and handguns proliferating our streets?
@flexghost 5 killed 2 injured last night in Philly. It’s the guns.

@TransitBiker it’s literally to the point where the news only reports mass shooting in bunches

Wait what’s a group of mass shootings?
A gaggle?
A parliament?
A murder?

@flexghost @TransitBiker
A Congress of mass shootings
@rigeldyesshall @flexghost congress is 5 or fewer. More than one congress is a failure, and multiple failures is a clusterfuck. 👍
@flexghost Americans are crazy about guns

@PrimroseHill that statement is even correct without “about guns”

But even more correct with it.

@flexghost They always bleat on about the exact wording of the 2nd Amendment to justify their obsession with these killing instruments, but there's the word "regulated" in there. And yet they are completely and utterly against any gun regulations. #idiots
@andyhagon they treat the constitution like they treat the Bible… Only using the parts they like
@flexghost Picking and choosing 🙄
@andyhagon @flexghost and of course the 2nd Amendment was written before the USA had a standing army to protect the nation. It's been completely obsolete for well over 109 years...

@flexghost America is ranked 131 out of 157 for most peaceful countries.

@[email protected] We’re at war. Normalcy upended by billionaires stupidity.
@flexghost it's not simply the proliferation of arms. Israelis are very well armed and yet there are less mass shootings. Even with the ideological divide there they don't shoot up schools as often as we do.
There is something wrong with out gun culture. Where guns are pushed as the solution to violence in the same culture that pushes racism, sexism and classism. Sometimes in the same NRA advertisement
Other Countries Had Mass Shootings. Then They Changed Their Gun Laws.

Britain, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway: All had a culture of gun ownership, and all tightened restrictions anyway. Their violence statistics now diverge sharply from those of the U.S.

The New York Times
@flexghost those countries never had the same mass shooting rates we do and our violent crime rates have actually gone down wince the 1980s. Particularly youth violence is down. The mass shooting phenomenon isn't simply due to gun proliferation. There are other cultural drivers. Also compare Israeli gun crime statistics and how armed they are.
Something is wrong with America beyond the guns themselves
@flexghost but to reiterate the actual violent crime and murder rates are down in the USA from the 1990s which were down from the 80s.

@flavonoid your argument starts with a fallacy and demands a 1:1

You’re not in good faith and a waste of time as a debater. And as a person.

@flavonoid @flexghost
It's also nihilism. Life is so shallow and no one can see the future, so people act like we're all characters in a video game.
@Woodchaz @flexghost it's the people calling everyone else NPCs. Part of the same toxic culture that produced NRA tv. Which was full of weird racism, sexism and drug war propaganda. Just weird. Wildly entertaining if you pretend its satire

@flexghost wait until you find out about medical malpractice
@flexghost Take away the guns and you still have homicidal maniacs willing to kill children. I still see that as a problem, regardless of whether or not gun laws are too lax. There will still be guns, and there will still be victims. If the goal is to prevent innocent people from being randomly murdered, we should really focus on the deplorable mental health of young Americans. How do you propose we solve the gun problem anyway? Do we pre-emptively label people as future mass murderers?
@fishcraps another coward with no data and a fake profile. Fuck off ivan.
@fishcraps @flexghost Homicidal maniacs without guns in other countries seem to hardly be a fraction of the problem as they are in the US where guns are freely available. Curious.
@antifawarlord I'm just saying it's futile to focus on disarming homicidal maniacs. Sorry if I was being cryptic. The real problem in USA leading to mass shootings is insanity - guns are violent by design, so "gun violence" is not something that's avoidable without removing guns entirely.
@flexghost While we're taking guns away from people, we should also take missiles away from governments. I'm pretty sure a lot of people get killed in missile strikes too.
@fishcraps perfect argument for a mental child
@flexghost There's irony here if you can find it.

@flexghost
The Republicans would like to remind Americans that they are working hard to ensure that no guns are harmed as a result of the #AmericanGunSlaughter and that Gun Industry profits are protected.

Gun makers are laughing all the way to their offshore banks.

When do Americans get independence from guns?

@flexghost and even if it was «the people», why give the people guns?
@flexghost It’s not the guns. We have too many people in this country that haven’t been given the proper ability to handle their issues and regulate their anger. The killings are indeed horrible but if you take away the tool but not the problem, then what have you solved? Giving people the tools and support to deal with life is so much more effective.
@flexghost
It's too damn hot to be doing hanging outside in crowds. Adding guns to the mix almost guarantees tragic outcomes.

@flexghost
The gun nuts (who live in constant blinding fear of everything and will buy guns b/c they're afraid the gub'mint is coming to take their guns) will NEVER give up their "wubbies".

Let them keep their guns. Buy whatever they want; as many as they want. BUT...

#ThinkOutsideTheBox #StopMassShootings #TaxGunpowder #TaxCordite

@MugsysRapSheet SCOTUS might preemptively suppress this good idea

@flexghost
As I noted, Justice Roberts already made the case that this is perfectly constitutional.

And if they don't argue the 2A mandates the *guns* themselves must be inexpensive, then they can't argue ammunition must be as well. #ThinkOutsideTheBox #StopMassShootings #TaxGunpowder #TaxCordite

@flexghost I'm still waiting on the militia part of this. Sure, you want to be in the National Guard and play by those rules, then you can have National Guard weapons.
@flexghost Between a declining America birth rate and mass shootings, no wonder the GOP is legislating mandatory birth.
