What a 160-year-old theory about coal predicts about our self-driving future

The Jevons paradox originated in the coal era, but it has a lot to teach us about the future of self-driving cars.

The U.S. built about 50,000 M4 Sherman tanks during World War II. Plus 18,000 B-24s and 12,000 B17s. No reason why we can't build 100 million heat pumps to provide electric heating and cooling to all the U.S. homes that need it. Training all the installers might be a challenge. At one installer per thousand homes we'll need 100,000 installers.
