Worker: I can't live on $7.25/hr

GOP: So go to college

W: I can't afford $100K tuition

GOP: Take out loans

W: I can't afford to pay these at 8% interest

GOP: No one forced you to go to college

W: But you just said—

Billionaire: I NEED MORE MONEY!

GOP: Here's a $2T Tax Cut

@QasimRashid

Exactly

Oil Company: I'M PROFITING BUT NEED MORE SUBSIDIES

GQP: OK, HERE'S 2 BILLION MORE.

@QasimRashid just inherit it. It’s not hard.
@QasimRashid W: What about me?
GOP: We're raising your taxes more and more over the next decade.
@QasimRashid did they ever really say "go to college?" I know they said "work harder" a lot of times...
@kdacar @QasimRashid They said "figure out your problems. Now don't bother us, we're trying to get in the way of whatever the Democrats are doing. And give more tax cuts to the wealthy."
@kdacar @QasimRashid I think they expect folks to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, but nobody has boots.

@QasimRashid Corporations are people, business is speech, losing is winning, freedom is my way or the highway.

America cannot afford another GOP president, Congress, or SCOTUS. Students, watch out for Americans for Prosperity, they are not your friends.

@maggiewashburne @QasimRashid
Neither political party is your friend; unless you have a spare $Million for their favorite SPAC.
@PensiveTM @QasimRashid At least one (go Blue) nominates real judges. The level of discussion by RW Judges on affirmative action was uninformed at best, their inclination to go beyond the law and the Constitution (when forgiven PPP loans were 2x the cost of student loan forgiveness), and the rejection of protected classes in a theoretical case that was based on a falsehood, standing be damned - there’s no both sides to this one.
@maggiewashburne @QasimRashid
Yes, Neoliberal judges don’t usually mess with civil rights unless they affect their corporate sponsors’ profit margins.

@QasimRashid A person with a college degree earns $22,000 a year more than a person with just a high school degree. That is close to $1 million over a person’s working career.

College graduates can afford their loans.

@joec522 @QasimRashid I don’t expect joe522-troll to care but for anyone who’s genuinely interested in understanding why loans are such a problem https://www.cbsnews.com/news/forget-bad-debt-college-loans-are-the-worst-debt/
@joec522 @QasimRashid how to lie with statistics…
@joec522 @QasimRashid the issue is I don't have my degree yet and I can't afford college. I'm privileged to have parents that can help me but not everyone does. You still need money in the mean time as you're getting said degree.

@1900490Freak The point of loans is to provide money to those who need it.

The downside of loans is that their wide availability results in much higher tuition rates.

Government guaranteed student loans is a double edge sword.

@joec522 @QasimRashid a black man with a college degree earns less than a white man with a high school degree, statistically speaking.

In 2021, the mean income of Black Bachelor's degree holders was 64,369 U.S.

Rolling Out

@jag0325 It seems like the person who wrote this article doesn't understand the difference between wealth and income.

Here are some statistics for income based on college degrees. There is a gap. I don't know what causes that gap. Geography could play a role.

@joec522 should have said blacks with “some college”. Racial and gender gaps are very bad still.

https://www.newamerica.org/education-policy/edcentral/college-pays-off/

College Pays Off. But by How Much Depends on Race, Gender, and Type of Degree.

Policymakers and college leaders need to make higher education more affordable, equitable, and supportive. However, this research also suggests that expanding access to college alone will not solve long-standing racial and gender inequities in the labor market. To ensure all people can access the benefits of higher education, policymakers must therefore work to increase the number of college graduates and ensure that all graduates have equal access to high-paying, high-quality jobs.

A 13 years old girl: I can’t have a baby and live on $7.25/hr or afford $100k tuition and take out a loan with 8% interest and I was raped by my father…
GOP: we are pro-life. You murderer belongs to prison.
@QasimRashid sometimes a gif says a thousand words.
@QasimRashid
While it (the statement) appears to be an oversimplification, it is madness. How long can the world (economies run by "robber barons" and self-serving politicians) sustain this sort of criminality? As someone in the thread put it, absolute insanity! Fuck me, it's actually beyond comprehension.
@QasimRashid A succinct encapsulation of domestic economic events from 2002 to today.
@QasimRashid thank people like Biden for creating this disaster in the first place. He made college a booming industry. There's more administration than professors. A monopoly. Bitch about billionaires but the student loan payout would directly use tax payer money to repay billionaire owned bankers. It's a scam.

@QasimRashid therefore we should first make the state smaller thus lowering the tax from common folk and not aiding corporations.
@QasimRashid It's pretty insane watching the US slowly but surely shift down into 1930s Nazi shite, even though they were essentially the deciding force against Nazi Germany.
@QasimRashid GOP: btw, don’t get sick.

@QasimRashid
GOP: Oh yeah, did you want free money in the form of a tax rebate on taxes you didn't pay?

Billionaire: Yes!

GOP: Here ya go.

@QasimRashid 👌 😀 👍 Billionaire: I NEED MORE MONEY! ALWAYS and fast , GOT IT ?
GOP : Sorry SIR , right away
@QasimRashid That's how rightist parties do their politics.
@QasimRashid True story of people who want kings instead of presidents.
@QasimRashid you don’t NEED college to make over minimum wage.
@QasimRashid I mean to be fair $7.25 is like $10.88 with margin

@QasimRashid
Right wing politicians are the wind beneath billionaires' wings. I get it. And for their myopic service to billionaires, they get loads of political funding.

What I don't get is all of those Joe Citizens out there consistently voting for the GOP. Voting against their own self interests.

It seems a true prediction that you can fool some of the people all the time.

@stargazersmith That’s the Southern Strategy enacted by Nixon, elevated by Reagen, and accelerated to infinite by MAGA.
@QasimRashid How does this help those who can no longer afford a box of KD, formerly $0.25, now $2.50 per...?
