@jcrabapple Boosting. I mostly only do minor emulation / retrogaming in #Linux (ex. Sega Genesis) and I use Ubuntu.
@jcrabapple parrot OS home edition
@jcrabapple Steam OS. At this point I’ve replaced my gaming pc with a steam deck.
@micahilbery @jcrabapple we have yet to be able to buy the deck in Norway at a regular non-inflated price. Is it that good? I really want to get my hands on one.
@garshol @jcrabapple honestly, I’m a pretty casual gamer and pretty easy to please. I haven’t played many graphically intensive games so I am probably not the best person to ask. I do enjoy it though. I work from home and sit at my computer all day and the last thing I want to do when I go to relax is sit back down at my desk. So the Steam Deck is perfect for me.

@micahilbery @jcrabapple sounds just like me. I don't do any graphically intensive games, and i can do all the editing of movies/pictures i need on modest hardware by today's standard.

I don't work in front of a desk all day, but I don't want to sit at one at home either if I don't have to.

@garshol
@micahilbery @jcrabapple

Sounds like the deck would be perfect for you.
Hopping valve will cover every country on the planet with steam decks soon 😉.
Btw. how come they still don't deliver to Norway 🤔

@jcrabapple Fedora Workstation, Fedora Mate, Ubuntu LTS, and RHEL.
@jcrabapple Running openSuse, which I do most if my gaming with.
@jcrabapple PopOS! which I think is a fork of Ubuntu. I only play small, non-gpu-intensive indie games generally though.
@jcrabapple Currently running Pop!_OS on my PC (that might change to Debian in the coming weeks/months though), and thanks to Proton I'm able to play most of my catalogue without any significant or noticeable issues.
@jcrabapple I don't play a whole lot of games but when I do it's usually on my #chromebook either via #cloudgaming and #androidgaming but every now and then I'll fire up #crostini (based on #Debian) and play a game or two there.
@kellyn @jcrabapple Why not install #Debian as main OS on that Chromebook?
@odo2063
I prefer #ChromeOS honestly. I like having a simple OS that I can just run #Web, #Debian, and #Android apps on one screen without any hassle. Besides, I'm not a hardcore gamer so I don't need Debian running on the metal. And anyway, if I was that concerned about gaming on bare metal I would have a dedicated gaming PC running #archlinux.
@jcrabapple

@jcrabapple
Opensuse Tumbleweed

Still the best rolling release around imho

@jcrabapple SteamOS. My Steamdeck has quickly become the primary way that I play PC titles.
@jcrabapple Steam OS, so half the point to Arch.
@jcrabapple nixos (seems fine for that machine) and SteamOS on SteamDeck (technically an arch derivative)
@jcrabapple Gentoo, Manjaro, Armbian, Debian, and Ubuntu (oh and SteamOS)
@jcrabapple Technically Arch, but it's a Steam Deck, so it's not as if I chose Arch specifically.
EndeavourOS, which is based on Arch.
@jcrabapple Pop_OS. I thought something with a fixed release cycle would be more reliable than something like Fedora or Arch (I’ve had bad experiences on both with things breaking after an update). I’ve read bad press on Ubuntu and Canonical looks like a horrible place to work judging from Glass Door so I went with Pop OS. It’s worked out well
@jcrabapple Ubuntu but going to switch to Debian !
@jcrabapple NixOS, but I also really like Fedora Silverblue, Nobara and Arch, all for different reasons
@jcrabapple #nixos is my current daily driver. Switched a bit more than a year ago, and have yet to look at alternatives. Came from #ubuntu and #fedora.

@garshol
@jcrabapple

Also using NixOS for a couple of months now.
Last distro was archlinux for like 4 years. It was greate and quite easy to use, but NixOS is just a whole different level.

@landel @jcrabapple different for sure. A lot of concepts and ways to configure it you'd have to understand properly before a solid configuration can be created. From there it's pretty simple imo.

Before I got a solid grasp on the #nix way, I was quite lost.

@garshol
@jcrabapple

That seams to describe everyone using NixOS 🤣, and quite accurate, too.

@landel @jcrabapple it's a known feeling between newer #nix users for sure.
@jcrabapple winesapOS. Why, IDK! 🤷‍♂️
@jcrabapple
Voted arch, but is also running Gentoo on one of my machines
