I'm six years older than Joe Biden, and I just did months of performances on stage in London, 8x a week.

Age is a state of mind and body, and Joe is just fine, as am I. It's that other guy with the orange foundation who seems feebleminded and unhealthy.

@georgetakei I am a caregiver for my 82 year old mother. Biden and his government do not pay me to be her caregiver. I saved her life a month ago when she had a heart attack. Not the first time I saved her life. Not all octogenarians are the same.

Oh, on that we agree, both parties have offered up pretty shit candidates... Luckily we have quite a few options beyond those two parties, and yea, pretty much every other person ont he ballot outside of those two is a much better choice every year.

@freemo @georgetakei Explain what you mean by “senile”? Do you know what that means? Yes, Biden looks old, and his voice is not as strong as it was when he was young. But that’s not what senility is, and he seems a lot more with it than most of the people claiming he’s “senile” (i.e. understands what is going on in the world, what is going on in Congress, how to navigate things like the Ukraine war and China, etc.)

I mean "a loss of mental faculties due to old age", he appears to struggle to function on many every day tasks.

Keep in mind he has been a family associate for many decades, so I've seen him go from young and relatively sharp mentally to a blabbering idiot as he goes senile.

He used to give a speech that was well spoken, coherent, and all around well delivered, for example... now he cant get through without devolving into giberish and confusion. I also just watched a few days ago another perfect example... a collection of clips of him at speeches or giving speeches where he reaches out to shake the hand of someone who isnt even there, no one in front of him and he is trying to shake the hands with air, usually after a few minutes he just wanders around the stage looking confused.

Yea he isnt just senile, but he is getting worse by the day.

@freemo @georgetakei First of all, with respect, not sure I buy your connection—I don’t know you except as an internet rando (as I would be to you). I know he looked and sounded better when he was younger (like all of us over a certain age), but he has more positive accomplishments than any other President in this century. Also, a collection of video clips can make anyone look like an idiot—it’s all about editing (and now, AI makes it even worse).

@georgetakei As I get older I find myself not moving around as much, and worry that the body is breaking down. I started thinking about this one day and realized it's not so much that age is making me lazy, but rather that I'm getting more efficient in my actions and don't have to work as hard.

Unfortunately this has the negative effect that my muscles don't get used as much, so I have to take time to actually exercise now, which in itself feels like a waste of time, but the body needs to move!

My own father has #Dementia (calling me just as I'm typing this, all upset & wanting out of the Nursing Home b/c they brought him chicken instead of a hamburger) and I see all the same signs in T****:

The denial when people point out things he just said. The "convenient memory" & making up events to fill in the gaps in his memory. Easily angered, and paranoid. He no longer understands simple concepts and The Rules are whatever benefits him.

@georgetakei I am almost 40 years old now Mr. Takei. I grew up watching your show. I recently had a terrible accident. Among the things I watched during my recovery, Star Trek was obviously on my list. You've always inspired me sir. You've influenced my life subtly in a lot of ways and I feel like the reason I am as well studied today is because how much I wanted to be a Star Trek captain when I was a little boy. I still feel that in my heart to this day, watching that show again only re-affirmed how much youth I still have left in my soul, even if my body is a bit more broken and aged than it used to be.

@georgetakei When he was on the ski patrol in high school, my dad's goal was to still be skiing when he was 80. He taught me how to ski, and he taught my kids how to ski. And last winter my son went skiing (for the first time since 2019) with his 80-year-old grandpa.

@georgetakei I am really surprised why age discussion is kept going in media. First, it is totally an ageism. President can be 35 year old or even younger. And he/she/they can be 85 - 90 years old. As long as they have sound mind - and that is quite visible when discussing and proposing policies - I kinda give very little about that?

@georgetakei I’m glad you’re still on top of your game. Joe is not well. He should retire and spend time with his grandkids. Not every person is the same, and Joe has lost a few steps. There is nothing to be ashamed of to admit that. And his family and supporters should encourage him to step away from a job that is clearly too much for him. Donald Trump is not well either. Trump's just a narcissistic buffoon, but he shouldn't be running the country either. There should be an upper age limit for POTUS (and all political office). Set it to the Social Security retirement age and leave it at that.
