The Hudson River Greenway "No e-bikes" signs always make me laugh because while I know that they do intermittent enforcement, like 1/3rd of the bikes on the Greenway at rush are clearly e-bikes, so it comes off to me as just a clear way to fuck over delivery riders.

Dan Miller@Andres4NY It's so obnoxious that they didn't coordinate this with the Hudson River Greenway, so ebikes are legal on that path, but only north of 59th street
legraLeGraI think the policy is racist. It’s people commuting from uptown and outer boroughs that have mega hills and need power (or excellent fitness) to get south of 59 unassisted. And it makes deliveristas easy targets for ticketing too.

mochi@Andres4NY Isn't this more an acknowledgement of reality to avoid the fact that he can't stop people from using ebikes/escooters in these areas? I'll be happier when it's legal for regular bikes to use the paths in Central Park.
@mochi Probably, but also I'm sure they'd be perfectly happy to keep it forbidden and continue ticketing poor people.

And you have a good point about the ticketing. The NYPD loves to grab low hanging fruit.
