anditshottooThis is great news. If you aren't familiar the dev is very committed, hard working and responsive. Sync was packed with features and customization.
Yessss it was my go to. I bought yearly subscriptions for it. If it's an option here, I'll gladly get it as well. :] phenomenal app. You can customize absolutely everything.
Great. I hope other devs will follow (dbrady if you're reading this). I hope he ditches reddit's forced naming scheme. Lemmy Sync.

Does the playstore allow developers to make a page for an app not yet developed? Would be cool when reddit shuts down 3rd party apps to have the sync for reddit app send you to a sign up page for sync for lemmy.

poryThere's technically nothing stopping the developer from just releasing the Lemmy app as an update to the current play store app.

lalay721Wow, I've never even used Sync but from the screenshot of the Reddit app on Google Play it's one of those UIs so good that make you want to use it. I'm currently fine with the Lemmy PWA but the more feature-complete Reddit apps that get "ported" to be used with Lemmy the better, especially to ease the transition for new users.
Sync is an absolutely wonderful app. I look forward to his contunued dev work
kaduHell yeah! He had commented about it on one of his posts announcing the API pricing would kill his app, but the way it was phrased made me think he wasn't actually going to bother trying to adapt the app to Lemmy.
That's fantastic news - we have over 300K users already, we have communities getting more and more active. The single thing holding us back at the moment is the UI, which is sometimes confusing or glitchy for new users.
But these folks have years of experience adapting Reddit into an easy and powerful UI. They can make it happen for Lemmy, and that's really transformative.
Imagine just telling your friend "yeah download Sync and create an account" rather than explaining what Lemmy is, what an instance is, how to navigate to new communities, how to find communities in other instances, how to navigate to Kbin magazines, and so on
The auto loading thing on the feed is driving me crazy! I know it's a bug that is being fixed. The sooner the better.
It is technically not a bug but it is a feature which was useful when Lwmmy had very few users. It is getting changed anyway tho so it doesn't really matter
Oh gotcha. Yeah that makes since if the post frequency is low it wouldn't be noticeable.

I need an iOS app
I can't find it now but I saw that there was one currently in development. EDIT: actually looks like there are a few. One called Lemur, one called Mlem, and the one I was thinking of is called Artemis.

eweMy preference was Joey, but before Joey, I was on Sync and loved it. Can't remember why I switched to Joey, but both are great.
CubesFirst time I've seen Joey mentioned during this whole debacle, but it's been my choice for as long as I've had an android too
I've personally sent the developer an email regarding Joey for Lemmy. Would be neat to have the same ol experience here. :)
