Learned something interesting in therapy tonight. Did you know there's an opposite of triggers called glimmers? They're little things that you read about or happen that cause you to feel joyful. I love that! I've had a lot of glimmers and #transJoy and I'm trying to savor it. You all here give me the glimmers everyday. 😊
Oh, and the OTHER thing she told me? She heard how excited I was about the chapstick with tint that I discovered yesterday, but did you know you can get moisturizer that has a little bit of foundational tint? *I* sure as hell didn't!
@Tweetfiction I discovered this at the weekend!

@Tweetfiction

Oh gosh yes.

I haven't worn foundation for years. It's effect can get crueler as one gets older.

If I want to scrub up nice for a special occasion, I'll always use tinted moisturiser.
The Boots No 7 one isn't bad.

Usually, I'll just use a bit of concealer to cover the sun damaged parts of my face and then just powder on top.

I * always * use factor 50 sunscreen on my face as a base from April to November.

@essjay
I'm so mad! I used the same BB cream with tint and SPF for years. Then it turned out there were false claims of organic or something, and now its gone. I can't find anything like it! Stupid lying companies, getting me hooked and then cutting me off. 😑
@Tweetfiction
@ginnikin @essjay She recommended Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. Said Sephora will color match you if I can work up the nerve to do it. LOL
I'm glad to see so many of you like hearing about what we all will now refer to as "The #glimmers" This is definitely one of them! πŸ’—πŸ˜Š
@Tweetfiction What a wonderful thing! 😊
@Tweetfiction you are definitely a glimmer! mind you, i giggle when i say that because i am a she-ra fan and... no, it would take too long to explain.

@nerdybutcute Hmm. I HAVE heard I need to watch She-Ra....

You know, I had one as a kid. She was bigger than He-Man. 😁

@Tweetfiction oooo you must. it may look like a kids' show, but give it time to develop - it winds up going HARD. and it is SO VERY GAY. the creator said that canonically NO ONE in the show is straight.

@nerdybutcute You had me at so very gay. πŸ˜‰ I'll definitely check it out!

People complained about Kevin Smith's MOTU reboot for making Teela super badass, but that's what I loved about it!

@Tweetfiction
Glimmer of my day,
Today I was watching my friend's little boy and this evening as I was tucking the little lad into bed he asked me to sing him a song for bedtime. I pulled off a light rendition of Les Miserables' Castle On A Cloud and when I turned to sneak out I heard the words, "She's like Mary Poppins."

My heart melted as I turned the corner to creep into the living room. It is moments like that which make an old auntie's heart spill over.
#glimmers

@Tweetfiction Love this! Glimmers! 😊

@Tweetfiction Reading this honestly gave me a glimmer.

I completely understand this concept. I'm not a gardener, but I planted some things thus weekend, and every time I pass them, I smile.

I also received a digital photo display this weekend. Decades of images, many I haven't seen since they were taken, now scroll at random on my desk. An endless cycle of glimmers every time I pass it.

@Tweetfiction Wow, I never even knew that.

@Tweetfiction Ok now this has to become a hashtag that we get lots of people to follow.
#Glimmers

I especially like it when my own writing gives me a glimmer. For instance I wrote this the other day:

β€œWho abused you, Jorie?”

β€œThat awful man they want me to marry. Can you help me find a decent husband before my parents find me?”

β€œA life commitment isn’t something to make on impulse,” Sylvie said. She heard Tor choking in the background. She turned to him. β€œThat was different.”

Trying to keep from laughing, Tor held his breath, turned a little blue and hurriedly went to the bedroom and closed the door where the two women heard muffled noises.

β€œIs he all right?” Jorie asked. β€œI don't mean to criticize, but he seems a bit odd.”

β€œHe was trying not to laugh at me telling someone else not to marry impulsively.”

That scene just makes me smile. I try to include glimmer moments in my writing no matter how dark the story gets.

Actual life glimmers today? I ran into a Facebook memory of the three dogs I used to have. I saw a picture of a bunch of koi in a wading pool. I finished re-watching Strange New Worlds in anticipation of the new season starting tomorrow (well today actually since it's after midnight here..

@Tweetfiction thanks for this. I now have my first glimmer of the day πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ
@Tweetfiction Perhaps they trigger joy? I want a joy gun!

@Tweetfiction I love that πŸ’™ I didn't know that I was actually collecting queer glimmers the past two weeks!

@Tweetfiction I've never heard of glimmers. Thank you for sharing this.
@Tweetfiction just yesterday at work we were talking about what makes you happy and how it is hard to pinpoint it. One of the people said once in the past they were told to do 3 essays, 1 about happy moments in childhood, 1 about happy moments in school and 1 about happy moments at work situations. Then they compiled them for commonalities to identify what made them most happy and help deciding next steps in life, aren't these just becoming aware of glimmers? ✨
@Tweetfiction Love this idea! Gonna spread it on further! #glimmers
@Tweetfiction I love this term! I'm non-binary but my gender expression leans a bit more towards masculine (not quite comfortable/confident to present in a more feminine way yet) but I get glimmers quite often when people on the street genuinely use she/her pronouns to refer to me. It gives me gender euphoria and makes me feel great about myself. πŸ₯°
@Tweetfiction At the school I work at we have a display in our main hallway for Pride, and we have a station where students and staff can decorate a β€œquilt square” to show what it means to them. These squares are then put on wall above the display. It has made me so proud to see my students expressing themselves and talking to each other. I love my job!
@Tweetfiction I am delighted to learn this!
@Tweetfiction
Thank you for sharing this. Never heard of it, but tonight, for me has had (latest count) three glimmers.
@Tweetfiction
Eek, third glimmer: your post.
@Tweetfiction I saw this just the other day and loved it! πŸ₯°
