Learned something interesting in therapy tonight. Did you know there's an opposite of triggers called glimmers? They're little things that you read about or happen that cause you to feel joyful. I love that! I've had a lot of glimmers and #transJoy and I'm trying to savor it. You all here give me the glimmers everyday. 😊

@Tweetfiction Ok now this has to become a hashtag that we get lots of people to follow.
#Glimmers

I especially like it when my own writing gives me a glimmer. For instance I wrote this the other day:

“Who abused you, Jorie?”

“That awful man they want me to marry. Can you help me find a decent husband before my parents find me?”

“A life commitment isn’t something to make on impulse,” Sylvie said. She heard Tor choking in the background. She turned to him. “That was different.”

Trying to keep from laughing, Tor held his breath, turned a little blue and hurriedly went to the bedroom and closed the door where the two women heard muffled noises.

“Is he all right?” Jorie asked. “I don't mean to criticize, but he seems a bit odd.”

“He was trying not to laugh at me telling someone else not to marry impulsively.”

That scene just makes me smile. I try to include glimmer moments in my writing no matter how dark the story gets.

Actual life glimmers today? I ran into a Facebook memory of the three dogs I used to have. I saw a picture of a bunch of koi in a wading pool. I finished re-watching Strange New Worlds in anticipation of the new season starting tomorrow (well today actually since it's after midnight here..
