All Trump can say about the docs is, “Hillary and Biden did it, too!”

First of all, no, they didn’t.

Second, this isn’t a defense. It’s a whine. Good luck winning it court with it.

@georgetakei MAGAts (and their leader) reason at the level of the average 6-year-old...

@jeffstras @georgetakei More apropos than ever, 9½ years later, manufactured debt ceiling crisis and all...

@jeffstras @georgetakei That's not giving enough credit to 6-year-olds.
@georgetakei
Hilary, Biden, Pence... when they were asked for the documents, THEY GAVE THEM BACK.
@LeDiva @georgetakei which the law is constructed specifically to allow. Accidents happen when dealing with that volume of paperwork. You report it, you give it back, you store it securely, and there’s no crime committed. You lie, obstruct, and conspire, you get fucked by the long dong of the law.
@georgetakei If Hillary did it, why didn't his highly-politicized justice department "lock her up" when he was in the WH?
@bls @georgetakei TFG *literally* based his campaign in large part on Locking Up Hillary Clinton. Why couldn’t his appointees do it?
@harksaw @georgetakei Because they knew it was a nothing-burger. But that doesn't stop #Trumplicans from repeatedly harping on it. Much easier to harp and get people worked up about it than it is to actually take legal steps, especially if there's no substance.
@bls @georgetakei because facts don’t matter to the GOP. Their talking points are designed to stoke an angry mob.

@georgetakei If a cop catches you speeding, saying "But other people were speeding, too!" isn't going to make him smack his head in surprise and say "By golly, you're right! Have a nice day, sir!"

Even less so when the other drivers are going 5-10 miles over the limit, and you're going 45 over, and you're weaving drunkenly, your plates are expired, and you've got cocaine and an unlicensed handgun in the passenger seat, which is kinda where Trump is, metaphorically.

@LizardSF @georgetakei All true but we can't ignore: 1. Wealthy people are seldom held to the law like regular people are and 2. Trump already got a MAGA-nut judge that he appointed on his trial so... yeah. The puppet show continues. I don't think Americans will ever realize they're being played by both sides 🤣
@georgetakei one thing not mentioned enough - he didn’t just betray America, he betrayed the trust of every allied country in those documents.
@GreyAreaUK if the Orange Menace goes back to the White House I'll (have to) treat US hardware and software in my line of work like they come from China without any chain of custody or from russia/North Korea.
@georgetakei
@georgetakei he's having some luck whining it in court though.
@root @georgetakei "defendant is invited to show up to the next court date accompanied by their parents, as they clearly don't have the mental asset of an adult."

@georgetakei Imagine a murder trial.

"Other people committed murders too!"

".... okay, so you are pleading guilty?"

Mmmm I really am rather partial to Larks Tongues In Aspic 😋
@georgetakei He doesn't need luck, he's got Judge "Lucy" Cannon.
@georgetakei The problem is, my faith in the US system isn't that big. For this reason, I'm not entirely convinced that whining won't work. I hope to be proven wrong.

@georgetakei
Like, fine, if “Hillary and Biden did it too” then, go ahead and gather up the evidence and get a grand jury to decide to indict. Biden is in fact under investigation right now. Hillary WAS investigated and deemed innocent of actual criminal conduct.

The fact that “other people commit crimes” is not a reason not to prosecute Trump.

@georgetakei you don’t need a defense if you have the right people in position to make such decisions
@georgetakei I think you are not telling the truth, they certainly did do it. behonesst for a change

@snadylady @georgetakei

Or he could be wrong about it. Being factually incorrect does not necessarily mean dishonesty.

And that's if he's actually factually incorrect.

@georgetakei Whataboutism is their only defense to anything.
@georgetakei
If they did, then we'll charge and prosecute them as well. Them not being charged, yet, does not mean you have a "get out of jail free" card.

@georgetakei

Third, the chandelier in the bathroom is it's own separate offense.

Hillary would never.

@georgetakei Quoting my other post from this morning... we've already moved on past "well they did it too" at part 3

The stages of a Trump scandal

1) "I've never even (met that person/heard of that thing)"
2) "Okay I have, but I didn't do it"
3) "Even if I had done it, everyone does <crime>. It's not a big deal"
4) "Okay I did it, but the law is wrong" <-- You are here
5) <Nothing happens>

@georgetakei his only hope is a corrupt judge or jury nullification.

#GoTeamRocketDocket

@georgetakei oh boy! He needs better lawyers…
@georgetakei That is something a child says when he knows he did it and trying to say others did it to. The child defense. He should use the twinkey defense. Others used it and got away with it.
@georgetakei - But wait, won’t Judge Mommy-Cannon say “All better!” soon lil’ drumpy… just as my eyeballs turn into dust, George.
@georgetakei It's the difference between accidentally running a red light and almost hitting a couple of pedestrians then stopping to call the police on yourself --versus purposefully running a red light to mow down dozens of pedestrians then driving away and bragging to your friends about it.

@georgetakei
If they did it, why weren't they arrested when Trump & Co. had control of the White House?

Impartiality wouldn't really solve anything, since bothsidesing will only allow the bad guys (the GOP; the data says so, look it up!) to propel their fringe shit more.

@georgetakei I have no problem with either of those people being arrested if they can prove criminality in a court of law not just by shouting Lock Her/Him Up.

@georgetakei

He refused to give the documents back. Now he pays.

@georgetakei

Trump is such a childish juvenile delinquent.

@georgetakei

⬆️

TFG is trying to make, “Hillary Did It First!” into a defense.

I can hardly wait till he get to the, “I am rubber and you are glue” portion of the trial.

@georgetakei

Pence -> Turned all of his documents in
Biden -> Turned all of his documents in
Trump -> Turned some of his documents in, but then lied to his attorneys, and hid a lot of 'em in his bathroom

^^^ One of these things is not like the other things

@georgetakei
I can’t for the life of me figure out how the “lock her up” crowd has contorted themselves into believing Hillary’s emails were worse than this
@georgetakei The Republican DOJ under Trump had all the time they needed to indict Hillary. That they did not speaks volumes.

And had Hillary committed crimes, I'd support her being indicted, tried, and, if convicted, punished. It's how "The Rule of Law" works: it applies equally to everyone.

@georgetakei Thank you for not showing his face. I can’t take it anymore.

#blackoutTrump

@georgetakei

where do they shop for chandeliers over the toilet in the bathroom? how totally gauche!

@georgetakei in 2016, he promised to protect classified documents.
@georgetakei if he said that, then the “too” at the end of the sentence is an admission of guilt
@georgetakei I read it as "Good luck WHINING in court with it"!
@georgetakei This reminds me of a workplace experience. Had a coworker who was called out for a misdeed. He yelled, "So what if I did it...he did it, and so did he!". #whataboutisms Trump doesn't think he is responsible for his misdeeds if he can distract and blame others.
@georgetakei Lock the Muppet up already.
@georgetakei ask thyself: how did the Occult threaten the Clintons: in what Way Shape or Form did they help them? And what shall remain of the Future Generations if they fail to Abstain from any and all Occult Activities?
@georgetakei , He’s trying to litigate his own case in the court of public opinion which means nothing in a court of law at this point.
