Clearly we need to organize a Community Whoopie Pie Delivery Truck event. Or at least a delivery cargo bike, though I suspect that won't have nearly enough capacity to properly meet demand.

@meghansmith @gbhnews @bikepedantic I admit I am now pondering ways to do proper whoopie pie filling flavors. I can see a reasonable path to hazelnut, mint, raspberry, and red bean (not at once), but I'm having some trouble with the orange, IPA, and Bailey's variants.

This may need some experimentation over the next few weeks.

@inliuofjoan @gbhnews @bikepedantic A full-sized whoopie pie is 5 inches or about 12 cm in diameter and around 3cm tall. If we assume some packaging space that's 13cm wide, 4cm tall. Looking around I see cargo bike containers vary in size but a good one seems to have a cargo area that's 89cm by 62cm. If we tile irregularly we should be able to get 35 pies in a layer and probably stack it 9 layers deep, so...

That's about 315 pies which, if I am Mathing properly, is about four servings, so we'd probably want a bunch of bikes for this but it's totally doable.

@inliuofjoan @cardamomaddict @gbhnews @bikepedantic I realized we should make a distinction between modern factory farmed whoopie pies, which have been bred to have a thicker carapace and more shelf stability, and free range artisanal whoopie pies which are moister with a more robust flavor but are a bit more fragile.

You can pack the commercial ones more tightly because that thicker carapace doesn’t stick to the wrapping. Whoopie pies done in the traditional way, raised in small herds with care and craftsmanship, tend to have moister skins more prone to adhesion issues.

Plus, of course, if you pack them tightly then the googly eyes you pipe on them (because seriously who doesn’t pipe googly eyes on their whoopie pies?) will get squished.
